“Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the counsel of the LORD will stand,” Proverbs 19:21.

We all make plans for the future. Many of us consider the way that we should go and then we plot a course to fulfill that plan.

But even with the best of plans, when they have been studied and considered, they often may go awry.

For you see, God sees the fuller picture. He knows what is best for us even though we think that we have the best plan in store for our future.

We may think that a certain job is just the right fit for us and so we may see ourselves working and excelling at that profession.

Perhaps a relationship has fallen apart and we just knew that this person was the one for us.

And then just when everything seems to fall into place, our plans fall short and what we thought was best for us simply dissolves into thin air.

We don’t see all of the things on the road ahead that God does.

He knows all the things that we may encounter along the way, and through His divine wisdom, He guides the ship ahead, as the rudder of our lives directs the ship this way and that. God sees the divine path that would lead us to the desired outcome that He has for our lives.

That’s not to say that we won’t encounter set-backs or problems along the way — we will.

But those problems and set-backs can all work together for our good.

When everything seems to be going smooth in our lives, we walk thinking that all is well and that nothing will deter us from the course that we have plotted for our lives.

And then all of a sudden there is a roadblock ahead that deters our way. Perhaps we try to go around that roadblock thinking that there is another way to get back on the course that we have plotted.

But then our plans fall apart and we see that all along that the path that we have chosen was not the right one.

Dear people, allow the hand of the Almighty to steer the ship ahead.

He sees the stormy gales and the dark skies ahead.

He knows how to guide us into safe harbors.
