The Scriptures tell us that salvation is by Grace through Faith and not by works. Ephesians 2:8-9. Many people believe this and even quote it in confirmation. They then turn around and say, IF YOU SIN AFTER YOUR SAVED you will be Lost. If you do not work right you will be lost again.
***Either we are Saved by Grace through Faith or we are saved by Works. It can not be both ways.
If a person says they can be lost again because of bad works or by sin, they are really believing that SALVATION IS NOT BY GRACE… BUT BY WORKS. Really, what is the difference in saying Salvation is by doing good works or saying… Salvation is kept by good works??
Stop and think.
Please read what the Scriptures say about Abraham not being saved by Works but simply by Faith:
Romans 4:1-8 (AMP)
[But] if so, what shall we say about Abraham, our forefather humanly speaking—[what did he] find out? [How does this affect his position, and what was gained by him?]
2 For if Abraham was justified (established as just by acquittal from guilt) by good works [that he did, then] he has grounds for boasting. But not before God!
3 For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed in (trusted in) God, and it was credited to his account as righteousness (right living and right standing with God).
4 Now to a laborer, his wages are not counted as a favor or a gift, but as an obligation (something owed to him).
5 But to one who, not working [by the Law], trusts (believes fully) in Him Who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited to him as righteousness (the standing acceptable to God).
6 Thus David congratulates the man and pronounces a blessing on him to whom God credits righteousness apart from the works he does:
7 Blessed and happy and to be envied are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered up and completely buried.
8 Blessed and happy and to be envied is the person of whose sin the Lord will take no account nor reckon it against him.”
The fact is Abraham was not PERFECT and he did fail God. If you will read the story about his life in detail. It is true than that Abraham was saved by Grace through his Faith and not by works. It would cause a great division of the Scriptures and as well cast doubt upon the story of Abraham’s Faith to add HE MUST CONTINUE OR HE WILL BE LOST.
***(((I am greatly concerned for people who have bought into the false teaching that Salvation is by MAINTAINING GOOD WORKS. I fully wonder if they know God and are ASSURED IN THEIR HEART THAT THEY ARE EVEN SAVED. If they have to continually be worried about wither or not they are doing everything right or not to know if they are saved, than how could that be ASSURANCE? If they, as they are saying, TRUSTING THEIR GOOD WORKS, they really are NOT TRUSTING in Jesus Christ to save them. They are trusting weither or not they will do well and work right. According to the scripture than they ARE LOST because salvation cannot be had by good works.
Ephesians 2:8-9
“For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved ([c]delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;
9 Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law’s demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]”
The Scriptures give true believers by Faith some very strong Assurance verses:
I John 5:10-13
“10 He who believes in the Son of God [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] has the testimony [possesses this divine attestation] within himself. He who does not believe God [in this way] has made Him out to be andrepresented Him as a liar, because he has not believed (put his faith in, adhered to, and relied on) the evidence (the testimony) that God has borne regarding His Son.
11 And this is that testimony (that evidence): God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12 He who possesses the Son has that life; he who does not possess the Son of God does not have that life.
13 I write this to you who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the name of the Son of God [in the peculiar services and blessings conferred by Him on men], so that you may know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have life, yes, eternal life.”
Stop trying to be saved and START TRUSTING JESUS AND HIS FINISHED WORK ON HIS CROSS AND IN HIS RESURRECTION FOR YOUR ETERNAL SALVATION. I pray today you will see you can fully REST in Jesus’ Work. Stop trying to prove you deserve anything, just know you do not and know Jesus will accept you EVEN AS YOU ARE.
