Love: A Distinctive Mark and Character Trait!
In John 13:34-35, Yeshua makes this statement:
“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
One fundamental part, distinctive mark and character trait of one who takes on the name of Christ — is LOVE.
Yeshua here is saying it is the most noblest badge you can wear to identify us with Him.
Jesus says that others will RECOGNIZE HIS disciples by a particular quality — love.
This love is not just any kind of love — but a selfless, sacrificial love that mirrors the love Jesus himself embodies.
Jesus implies that genuine discipleship goes beyond outward appearances or religious rituals.
Instead, it is marked by a genuine love for others, especially fellow believers.
This Love reflects the love that Jesus has for his followers and demonstrates their connection to Him.
This LOVE is a testimony to the world of our identity as followers of Christ.
It is evident that LOVE is missing among us in the Body of Christ. Instead what we are seeing is a “every man for themselves” “dog eat dog” “crab in barrel” mentality, selfishness, pride and greed.
Let us truly check ourselves and judge our own selves to see if we are truly Christians because there is no way one can be in or among a community of “believers” and there is a NEED whether spiritual, emotional, financial and our bowels of compassion are not moved.
There is no way we would trample on each other, betray, gossip about, scoff at and devour each other, treat each other with contempt, create animosity and murder each other with poisonous words.
Which God are we really serving?
Who are we discipled after and do we have the REAL HOLY GHOST or some other spirit?
Let every man examine himself!
May God help us!!
Shalom
