Like A Tree Planted By The Rivers Of Water
A psalm to praise and sing to God, out loud.
Like A Tree Planted By The Rivers Of Water
All my life I did things my way
Thinking that I knew best
Thinking I had found the truth
But all I had found was disappointment
Day by day the shiny things of the world
Dulled and collected dust
My mind was discontent
My heart was unsettled
The things of this world
Failed to quench my thirst;
Their rivers became bitter
Tears would stream down my cheeks
And I did not know why…
Then one day upon waking,
In my bed I lay, just thinking,
Awakened from a slumber
I heard a subtle whispering,
Like aspen leaves quaking,
“Come home, come home upstream…
Come home to Me…”
And I knew it was You, LORD
You who had called out to me
It was You who had knocked at my door
Hoping I would answer it
Hoping I would walk through it
And follow You
Upstream toward Truth
And now here I am with You, LORD
Not a day goes by that I would change
Walking through that door;
My mind is clear
My heart full of peace
I have awakened from a slumber
I didn’t know I had been under
No more do I struggle
For you carry me through it all
I am filled with hope
I am filled with love
The Truth has set me free
You have blessed me with Eternal Life
And I have become a tree planted by Your Rivers:
Blessed is the man that walketh
Not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor standeth in the way of sinners,
Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD;
And in His Law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted
By the rivers of water,
That bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
His leaf also shall not wither;
And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Thank you, LORD for calling me home.
