Let’s Get to the Heart of the Matter of True Repentance
True repentance is a beautiful gift from God!
Good morning.
Many don’t believe if you are a Christian, you need to ever repent again.
Some think It’s a one shot of grace and your in!
That is to presume upon a Holy God.
If your thinking by repentance that I mean turn and start living by the letter of the law, then No!
Remember, the letter of the law kills.
“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” 2 Corinthians. 3:5-6
True repentance will result in a Holy lifestyle, although.
I’m not talking either about a hemline religion of do’s and dont’s, here.
We see:
“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.” 2 Corinthians 7:10
“And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” Romans 2:3-4
It is Godly sorrow that works true repentance only!
We turn from that sin but turn to righteousness and living for the Lord.
Here I will say, we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.
“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Philippians 2:12
Still In our own self, without the Lord’s help, it is just rotten works.
Let’s go to prayer daily doing a heart check.
We must not skip our intimacy and devotion period with the Lord.
It is only from the heart, we can truly repent, anyway. We need to often and daily do a self examination.
We need to ask the Holy Spirit to show up any little foxes trying to get in. He will!
“Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.” Song of Solomon 2:15
Life and the pain it can cause us can get rough at times!
Never think any of us are too spiritual to let a ‘root of bitterness’ inside us.
We must guard our hearts at all times.
Sometimes pride will try to get in, perhaps. Many Christians and even leaders start out good.
We get a little well known perhaps and that sin starts to attack.
Why do we even think we are all that, let me ask you?
Could we be too puffed up because we think we know a lot? That is pride.
“Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.” 1 Corinthians 8:1
We must humble ourselves to let the Lord lift us up.
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4:10
I pray many blessings upon you all as we desire a closer walk with our precious LORD.

Joyce, my sister, my first thought is That indeed is the bottom line. Let’s just get to the heart of the matter..it all begins in the heart. May sorry turn to true heart changing repentance in this hour! i love you and I love your heart! Sandi
Yes so true it is the bottom line to get to the ‘heart’ of the matter, Sandi.
The Lord digs deep with us all, and I include myself before I think of anyone else.
If people wouldn’t seek an agenda to promote themselves, we could truly love others as we are suppose to.
Lord help us to put you first, others next and ourselves always last. I love you friend. ❤️
Amen,Thank you Joyce.
God bless you Cassandra. ❤️
