Let’s Get Back to the Cross!
I have been doing a deep soul search over the past months, and have traveled memory lane to that day and to that spot when I turned my heart to Jesus Christ.
It was on the 25th of December at 12:00 a.m. in the year 1988 while watching the Jesus of Nazareth film, that I heard a voice telling me, “He took these whips for you.”
Tears streaked down my cheeks as I promised the LORD never to steal again, for to me, that was the highest sin I ever committed.
Immediately after, I was introduced to the family of God and then was taught about the second coming of jesus Christ.
At that tender age, I stumbled across certain books that turned my life aright: “The Release of the Spirit,” and “Changed into His Likeness,” by the great Watchman Nee.
These books taught me how to die to the pleasures of this world and created in me an insatiable hunger for more of him till I am totally swallowed in him! I would pray “LORD hide me behind the cross that Christ alone be seen.”
The ‘cross’ was our constant focus and with joy we sang the old rugged cross hymn with tears from our eyes as the song came straight from our hearts.
“So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, where my trophies at last I’ll lay down, I will cling to the old rugged cross and exchange it some day for a crown…”
There was real power because we preached the cross. There were true disciples, because we preached the cross and lived the crucified life.
The cross is the message of the ministry and those who still preach it see the genuine power of Jesus Christ!
Today, everything seems so different! A shift, did I say a shift? A total digression of focus hence we see so little changed lives!
Look around the church world today, you will see that the most anointed men in this generation are still those who experienced the wave of the old revival, those who truly experienced the cross and still carry the cross, live the crucified life and still preach in sincerity the unadulterated word of God!
At 87 years of age, my covenant sister Janet Peterson’s father was scheduled for an MRI a couple of weeks ago.
He was to go in with nothing but somehow they forgot to take away the cross hung on his neck and after the MRI, they observed he had his cross with him and when told, his response was, “I took the cross with me in.” What a statement that was!
The failure of this generation ministers is the absence of the message of the cross and that’s why we see fake repentance and increased church membership without fruits!
That’s why we see how people implore every worldly means to bring people into church membership. The more the members, the increase of income!
A powerless generation without a first hand experience of Jesus Christ! Today we have man-made apostles hanging huge crucifix around their necks when the cross is not in their hearts!
We now have a generation of people who buy apostleships with huge sums of money.
The criteria for apostleship for all time, past, present and future still is: “They must have seen the LORD.”
Those who have seen the LORD Jesus Christ will never resort to underhanded method’s of preaching as is the case today!
Please share this with friends and loved ones here [on Facebook] and other social media till it goes viral!
Faithfully yours,
