Let Saul Prophesy!
When I was pastoring my second church in the ’80s and ’90s, I taught extensively on Saul, David, and Absolam.
I told my congregation (an A/G church, mind you):
“I hope God makes me the pastor/ leader in your life that brings you closer to Christ…
If that means I have to be your King Saul, then I’ll be your Saul.
If that means I have to be your Absalom then let me be your Absalom.
If it takes a David to bring you closer to God then let me be your David…”
I realize today that in every person there is a David, a Saul, and an Absalom.
The Saul in you is that part of you that is insecure, doesn’t rejoice at the promotion of others, and carries suspicion toward those closest to you. (Don’t look so righteous, you rascal you…).
The Absalom in you is that part of you praying fervently in tongues (you think) saying ‘bless me oh, God…’ when in fact the interpretation is “don’t do it, God, I’m a rebel…”
The David in you is that part of you capable of murder, adultery, corruption – but still, at your core, you are a person after God’s own heart.
Wherever you are at, what season currently your response that points the way forward is different, at those different seasons.
In your David season, fall on your face, take your crown off your head when Nathan points at you and says “thou art the man…” When you are in your Absalom season, get a haircut, bare your chest to Joab’s lance and say “don’t miss, Joab this is needful for me…”
If you are in your Saul season, let your Saul prophesy in the company of the prophets because no matter the season (David understood this) you are still God’s anointed and God will work with you as long as you give Him something to work with.
Does this resonate with you? Then share it with others.
I am a Prophet and My God lives large in me!

Every church has a degree of lukewarmness (Rev 3:16). Every church has a pinch of nakedness (Rev 3:17). If we repent, there is fire for lukewarmness (v 18) and a garment for nakedness (v 18). Thank you Father
You wrote “the Absalom in you…praying fervently in tongues (you think)..” When I pray in tongues I know I’m praying in tongues, and not pretending or assuming. Or maybe, we think we’re praying fervently but we’re not. Could you please clarify what you meant by the words, you think, in parentheses.
