Led by The Spirit of God
As believers, it is crucial to be led by The Holy Spirit.
Being “led” is not just a religious phrase, spiritual buzzword or a Christian cliché, but it’s a vital part of our walk with The LORD if we want to hear His voice, and know His ways.
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and He is our guide, counselor, and comforter. He reveals truth to us and helps us discern right from wrong.
He leads us so that we will have a deeper understanding of God’s purposes and plans.
Every one of us has the potential to develop a deeper sensitivity to The Holy Spirits guidance.
We could train ourselves according to Hebrews 5:14, to recognize the spiritual climate around us, and the motivations behind people’s actions.
This isn’t some extraordinary or unreachable goal; it’s something we can all work towards with a little effort and dedication.
This weekend I began writing about being led by The Holy Spirit, and once again The LORD led me in a different direction.
He revealed to me that being led by The Holy Spirit not only involves listening to His direction, but also acknowledging His convictions.
When we first surrendered our lives to The LORD, we were sensitive to that gentle whisper that cautioned us when something wasn’t aligned with Gods will.
However, as we’ve grown comfortable in our relationship with Jesus, we often neglect to pay attention to the gentle nudges and convictions in our hearts, which can lead us astray if we ignore them.
This may not sound like a very encouraging word, but it could save you from a lot of pain and regret.
If The LORD is dealing with you in a particular situation, it’s for your own benefit.
There may be things in your life that God is seeking to refine or remove because they’re causing you harm.
If you’re entangled in a sinful pattern, it can lead to spiritual decay and destruction. You cannot take ground from the enemy if he has any ground in you.
1 Corinthians 5 says in The Passion Translation:
“Boasting over your tolerance of sin is inappropriate. Don’t you understand that even a small compromise with sin permeates the entire fellowship, just as a little leaven permeates a batch of dough?” 1 Corinthians 5:6
The LORD gave me a word many years ago about being led by The Holy Spirit in comparison to a GPS System.
There is popular device known as a GPS that is used in aircraft’s and automobiles. GPS is an abbreviation for Global Positioning System.
For those of you that are not familiar with it, a GPS is a small gadget that will tell you exactly where you are on earth at any time of day.
It gives you directions by transmitting signals from a satellite to your GPS receiver. The only thing that is required to get a connection is to have an unobstructed view of the sky.
The signals move at the speed of light to arrive at a GPS. With the GPS navigation system, you can type in any address or location and it will automatically calculate the fastest way to get you to your destination.
It highlights the location on the screen, and gives you a visual of the road ahead. In this same way that a GPS receives signals from the satellite, we could receive discernment and direction for our lives through connecting with The Holy Spirit.
If you don’t follow the directions on the GPS and you go off in a different direction, the navigation system won’t stop just because you got off course.
It will immediately update and calculate a new route from where you are. You could still get you to your destination from wherever you made the wrong turn.
Even if you went miles out of the way in the wrong direction, up and down mountains, through the wilderness or into valleys this navigation system will constantly make adjustments showing you the quickest and easiest way to go back in the right direction from where you are.
In the same way, The Holy Spirit wants to lead you. If you got off course, He wants to bring you back in the direction that He has for you.
If you repent, He will immediately come up with another way and plan no matter how far off you went.
He will find another route to bring those dreams to pass in your life. He will show you how to get your ministry back on course.
Even your mistakes and shortcomings won’t cancel out God’s Plans for your life if you turn from them and allow Holy Spirit to get you back on track.
“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it, Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.”” Isaiah 30:21.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” Psalm 32:8.
“A man’s heart plans his way, But The LORD directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9.

Thank you!
I so appreciate your sound, straightforward wisdom, but absolutely LOVE how you highlighted the GPS!
bc many times those wanting to be sensitive to the Lord, following Him closely can be so hard on ourselves when we miss, or slip up!… but how we need to receive His GRACE to help us in our error, or missteps!
Every blessing of His heart
I also love David’s prayer in this regard from Psalm 25
Psalm 25:1,2 AMPC
UNTO YOU, O Lord, do I bring my life.
O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You. Let me not be put to shame or [my hope in You] be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me….
Psalms 25:4-5
Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.
Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You [You only and altogether] do I wait [expectantly] all the day long.
Psalms 25:7-9
Remember not the sins (the lapses and frailties) of my youth or my transgressions; according to Your mercy and steadfast love remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.
Good and upright is the Lord; therefore will He instruct sinners in [His] way.
He leads the humble in what is right, and the humble He teaches His way.
Psalms 25:12
Who is the man who reverently fears and worships the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way that he should choose.
Psalms 25:14
The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning.
Amen Amen And AMEN.
