Learning to Love
Learning to Love!
This Word is a follow up of the yesterday’s post here on HKP “Life’s Lessons”.
Just like it was yesterday, I can still hear my Mother’s voice say, “Sandra Lynn, have you learned your lesson yet because you better not do “that” again……!”
These were her words to me after I had been punished for something.
Funny how those moments come racing through our mind when we tend to reflect and apply them to “being transformed” by the washing of the water of the Word of God.
When I reflect on the scriptures in Colossians 3:2 when Paul said, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things….”
We must stop focusing on other people’s weaknesses or faults or even how someone has mistreated us or hurt us.
Lately, as I listen to the newscast on television, It seems like the same story is told daily over and over with a little different biased twist in an effort to control our thinking or as someone said as we were praying about it, it is a technique called “brainwashing”.
I replied to my friend, “That is just the opposite of having our minds transformed to have the mind of Christ. So one is to be controlled by man and the other is to be changed by God.”
I once heard someone say we become like the one we fasten our eyes on. We must not become enslaved by someone who is constantly irritating you.
It then becomes a constant struggle not to judge another. It seems we keep playing those “tapes of cruel remarks or unfair accusations that are stored in our mind and we keep hitting rewind”.
As I prayed about this, I heard The LORD say this, “It is time to make so new recordings and allow your mind to be renewed again.
My Word says in Philippians 4:8-9 ‘Whatsoever is true, whatsoever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, or if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.’
As you think on these things, you are taking your thoughts captive and the battle in the mind will bow to the peace that passes all understanding.
These are the weapons of victory. As you set your thoughts, you will change the atmosphere. Always remember, you are in authority as my Ambassadors on the earth.
So let it be done on earth as it is in heaven. You are in control of your mind. Choose your thoughts well and speak softly to those who are angry. A soft answer turns away wrath, “ says the Father.
Life’s lessons will always give us a picture of our hearts!
We must not allow an emotional response to harden our hearts. We are in charge. It is the now time to be healed of all past trauma, drama, and emotional wounds whether from anger, strife, betrayal or unforgiveness.
We must keep the truth in mind that there is a life lesson to be learned. We can harbor unforgiveness or we can allow The LORD to turn it for good.
These next three paragraphs are excerpts from Life’s Lessons published here on HKP and they are very much a part of Learning to Love which is the most important lesson life lesson I can think of!
God’s hidden purpose in each act of betrayal is for Victory on both sides. Some might have heard me say this before but I say it once again that embedded somewhere in any act of betrayal is the purpose of The LORD waiting to be discovered.
Beloved, for me, it always brings that enlightening question, “Father, what are you after in my heart? Help me LORD to guard my heart and see your hand!!”
A traitor or betrayer is someone who betrays a trust. Betrayal will reposition you into a dark place but true repentance will bring you out.
And for the betrayed one, darkness will lead you into a place that you want punishment for the betrayer, don’t go there!
The LORD’s Word says in Deuteronomy 32:35 , “Vengeance is Mine and retribution ; In due time their foot will slip. For the day of their disaster is near.”
We must never forget when the enemy comes and sets us up and lures us by our emotions, it is leading us into hardening our heart. A hard heart is the resting place for unforgiveness.
So, when we find ourselves wrestling with unforgiveness and revenge as well as a deep wound, we must lay down our feelings and as an act of obedience, allow our heart to be willing to forgive as an act of our will.
It is then and only then, the willing obedience gives us the forgiveness key that opens the door for The LORD to restore and bring healing to BOTH the wronged and the wrongdoer.
The word ‘traitor’ or ‘betrayer’ carries a negative connotation, but let’s stop and take a hard look at truth. No one would betray if they knew their own heart and the hidden motives that instigated the break in trust.
So in the final analysis, it opens the door for us to pause and say, “Lord, show me my heart”.
What a life lesson as we put in action, the example and truth that was set for us at Calvary.
With all the hate and evil that is being displayed all across our land and all over the nations, we are appointed for such a time as this to walk in that Calvary Love all the way to the cross, speaking to ourselves and The LORD the very words of Jesus… “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”.
So I leave you with these closing thoughts as we celebrate VALENTINES DAY.
Following Information from Here To Serve.
“A little about St Valentine! Saint Valentine was a Roman priest and physician who suffered martyrdom during the persecution of Christians by the emperor Claudius II Gothicus about 270 AD.
He prayed for the sick to be made well. Saint Valentine is said to have restored the sight of his jailer’s young daughter, Julia.
It is noted that Saint Valentine wrote a love letter to the jailer’s daughter and signed it, your Valentine. Saint Valentine is called the patron saint of love but is also known as the patron saint of epilepsy and beekeepers.
From the high middle ages, his Saints’ Day has been associated with a tradition of courtly love. It would seem that his most celebrated character trait of love that we remember on Valentine’s day.”
May we all embrace AGAPE love. AGAPE love is all giving.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you with much love and blessings!

Sister Sandi,
The MSM is all about controlling, conquering, and condemning our hearts and minds to each other and the world we are engaged in. The Holy One, through His holy spirit, brings conviction to our hearts and minds, so we can “turn (ed) to God from idols to serve the living and true God.” He changes our hearts and lives in order for us to ‘choose’ to be His bondservants, and then representing Him to a broken and despised world who so desperately need the living and true God. It is always about life and truth! All allegiance and honor to the King!
