Leading Others to the LORD?
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’
The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
How I love this portion of scripture!
I love it because it tells me that there are some answers that we cannot obtain by our ourselves, no matter how educated we are!
See Nicodemus was a teacher of the Law. Yet I keep hearing him ask the question – HOW?
- HOW does it work?
- HOW is it possible?
And that to his credit, because today we are so clever that we would be able to explain it to anyone immediately, having our list of organized scriptures ready to “lead someone to the Lord”.
Here’s the thing, there is no leading anyone to the LORD, unless it is The Holy Spirit doing the leading!
What Jesus explained to Nicodemus surely must have sent him to his knees, because what He heard from Jesus was that there was no formula!
There was only the Wind of the Spirit that blew “wherever it wants to”, salvation was (is!) supernatural , it is out of man’s hand and firmly in God’s hand to offer to whomsoever He willed – It comes to man as a gift of GRACE – it is not to be achieved, only received!
Salvation is a supernatural “grace-happening”!
“For by Grace you are saved, and that not of yourselves.”
