Know Your Sphere of Influence and Authority
It is hard to believe that many folks still don’t know their ‘metron’ or sphere of influence and authority and they say that they walking in their call of authority, but have failed to acknowledge God for Wisdom!
“And Saul built an altar unto The LORD : the same was the first altar that he built unto The LORD.
And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.
And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day.
And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.
For, as The LORD liveth, which saveth Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him, (1 Samuel 14:35-39 KJV).
King Saul had a great problem and one of them was waiting upon God for both directions and wisdom!
God sent him a prophet Samuel and King Saul did not honor him. And like King Saul you got prophets that don’t know proper protocol or etiquette.
King Saul the Bible says, “built an altar unto The LORD : the same was the first altar that he built unto The LORD.”
In and of itself it seems like nothing is wrong with that but the problem is he built the altar but failed to ask God was it time or not!
If you notice the above text it was the priesthood that kept pointing King Saul to draw nigh unto God each time but Saul himself was known for doing things off the top of his head without even stopping to acknowledge authority!
In other words he lacked accountability!
How many times have those in the church (family, government etc.) or let’s say the body of Christ stepped over our metron of authority into somebody else’s without even respecting authority of what God has given another individual to govern over like King Saul did!
King Saul went to acknowledge God but there was a stillness and a quietness because God was not speaking or answering him.
Why? I believe because King Saul had grieved the Holy Spirit with his constant rebellion and his disrespect for leadership!
Whenever we overstep our boundaries without accountability we risk grieving the Holy Spirit as King Saul did! God himself was testing King Saul by not answering him right away to see how he once again would react: would he acknowledge God first or make his self-will his god!
Some of us are doing the religious works of God, but what we need to ask ourselves is this something God wants me to do or is it my own self will and righteousness that is guiding my heart!
Or maybe it’s just to be noticed or to gain recognition to get a platform as King Saul did who did not respect Samuel after he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed : but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.
And, The Bible says that Saul said,
“Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering. And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him,” (1 Samuel 13:8-10 KJV).
Sometimes God allows us to wait because we are self willed and we want things done in our own timing and in our own way like King Saul did.
Saul was constantly doing things without first acknowledging God and waiting on an answer and when He did get the answer sometimes he would do things his way; instead of God’s way!
But, I hear The LORD saying, “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might, he increaseth strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon The LORD, shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:29-31 KJV)
We must learn to wait on God, people! King Saul grieved The Holy Ghost because he was constantly doing things without first waiting on God, so God got tired and did not answer him at all!
Wait!
