Keep on Running!
Running! The hills get steeper the ground more treacherous but you running. Calloused feet, clothes drenched with sorrow, but you keep on running.
You pass by those who have grown weary and fallen by the wayside, you stop and lift them up and you keep on running.
Bruised and battered, afflicted on all sides, your eye is on the prize and you keep on running.
Hours turn to days, days to weeks, weeks to months; the road ahead seems to have no end, you can’t see the finish line but you keep on running.
Doubt slithers under your feet and whispers words of defeat – is there an end?
The strength you had begins to wane, you suddenly feel debilitating pain. The speed you kept slows to a crawl, those you helped watch you stall.
They wait to see you drop, they want to see you fall but Love steps in and reminds you of your call.
You hear a word of His sufficient grace, your legs step back into the race… and you keep on running!
You pick up pace by His might, those you helped have lost the fight and fallen by the wayside. With His Love you offer a hand, you pick them up and help them stand, you shine His light for all to see.
Bewildered, they wonder – how could that be?
You watered the seed planted long ago the increase will come and it will begin to grow because you chose to shine His light. A soul is won, the angels celebrate in song… and you keep on running.
Refreshed and revived, eye on the prize, faith on the rise, you keep on running.
You now realize it was Him all along, keeping you strong, urging you on so you can keep on running.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?
Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. (1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (NIV))
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart, (Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV))
