Judging Others
“Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly]. For just as you [hypocritically] judge others [when you are sinful and unrepentant], so will you be judged; and in accordance with your standard of measure [used to pass out judgment], judgment will be measured to you. Why do you look at the [insignificant] speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice and acknowledge the [egregious] log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me get the speck out of your eye,’ when there is a log in your own eye? You hypocrite (play-actor, pretender), first get the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye,” Matthew 7:1-5 (AMP).
I find it interesting and appalling how once people start getting to know each other they begin to pick and find fault.
I call it LOOKING FOR BOOGERS! Allowing the spirit of criticism to operate in your life only shows you have something your doing that you want to hide so you point the finger at others to make yourself feel better.
It is self-righteousness superiority. It is PRIDE, and it stinks in the nostrils of God.
Look at v.2 above: Hypocrite! Jesus calls this person a hypocrite!
You will be judged by the same standard of measure you use to judge others. Watch out!
It is dangerous ground you are standing on! I love this verse, I love it when Jesus is so frank and upfront. I believe this kind of illustration has to be explicit for us not only because this sin is so base and carnal, but it is difficult to get a handle on.
James 3:6 says, “the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles THE ENTIRE BODY, AND SETS ON FIRE THE COURSE OF OUR LIFE, and is set on fire by HELL.”
Humble yourself my friend under the mighty hand of God. Let Him exalt you. James 4:11, 12 says,
“Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother, or judges his brother, speaks against the law, and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge of it. THERE IS ONLY ONE LAWGIVER AND JUDGE, THE ONE WHO IS ABLE TO SAVE AND TO DESTROY; but who are you who judge your neighbor?:
Instead of looking for something, for the speck you can find of fault in others, you need to notice AND acknowledge the LOG in your own eye.
The Bible says he who says he has no sin is a liar, and you my friend are the Hypocrite. Your pretending your perfect in the Lord and someone else must be wrong. When you take care to remove the log of sin out of your eye, THEN, AND ONLY THEN can you offer help, not criticism, to others.
God Bless You, you are in my prayers
