JESUS Likes For Us To Cry Out For His Help!
Thanksgiving is the first and foremost sacrifice we are bound to give to GOD always (Psalm 100:4).
However, by The Manifold Wisdom of GOD, we are also required by Him to let our requests be made known to Him with thanksgiving, even cry out for His urgent help (Philippians 4: 6-7; Matthew 7:7-11; Psalm 107:6).
When things are unduly delaying, when there is need for answers to prayer, when there is urgent need for Divine Intervention, we must CRY OUT to THE LORD for His Mercy and Intervention.
The redeemed of THE LORD wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
“Then they cried out to THE LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.” (Psalm 107:4-6 NKJV emphasis added).
When led and given Utterance by THE HOLY SPIRIT, we have to cry out to THE LORD for His Deliverance.
But without throwing tantrums and complaining!
THE LORD gave me Isaiah 33:2 the other day to be praying. I do so, saying:
“In JESUS’ NAME, FATHER I thank You. Oh LORD, be gracious to me. I have waited for you. Be our Arm every morning, our Salvation also in the time of trouble.”
It is indispensably fundamental in our walk in CHRIST: “giving thanks always for all things”, “in everything give thanks” (Ephesians 5:20; 1 Thessalonians 5:18).
For all things work together for good to us (Romans 8:28).
However, as part of His Wisdom, GOD requires us to also cry out to Him about our situations and fulfilling of His Promises.
Although He had promised Abraham that He will bring his descendants out of Egyptian bondage, GOD only eventually delivered the children of Israel from Egypt after He heard their groaning and remembered His Covenant with their fathers (Exodus 2:23-25; 6:5).
“Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry came up to GOD because of the bondage. So GOD heard their groaning, and GOD remembered His Covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. And GOD looked upon the children of Israel, and GOD acknowledged them.” Exodus 2:23-25.
“And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My Covenant.” Exodus 6:5.
We must likewise cry out to GOD:
“In JESUS’ NAME, LORD, You have established Your Covenant with me (The New Covenant in THE BLOOD OF JESUS) to give me the land (The Promises).
Hear the groaning of me Your child and remember Your Covenant with me, and deliver me immediately.
Avenge me speedily.
Thank You LORD. Amen.“
Crying out to GOD activates His Covenant with us.
HOLY SPIRIT-led crying out to GOD attracts His Response speedily.
As JESUS said: “And shall GOD not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when THE SON OF MAN comes, will He really find Faith on the earth?” Luke 18:7-8.
You must however remain in Faith when THE LORD brings the answer.
I tell you The Truth of GOD: Sometimes JESUS would do nothing until you cry out to Him as moved by His SPIRIT.
Blind Bartimaeus didn’t receive his sight until he cried out repeatedly to JESUS and specifically asked for same (Mark 10:46-52).
The need to cry out is most starkly established in Mark 6,
“Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by. And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled.” Mark 6:48-51.
JESUS immediately responded to His disciples in trouble only when they cried out.
The most amazing points for me in the above Scripture are that:
- JESUS saw them straining at rowing because the wind was against them, yet He didn’t rush to help them. He only responded when they cried out.
Are you straining at rowing on the waters of life in contrary winds?
JESUS sees it all. But you have to cry out to Him. Again, without tantrums and complaining. He is turned off by them. He HATES complaining.
Please don’t get the wrong impression about GOD in this teaching!
He is very compassionate and merciful. HE approached and healed the man at The Pool of Bethesda (John 5:2-9).
With compassion for the widow of Nain, HE approached and raised her only son from the dead (Luke 7: 11-15).
THE LORD mercifully does many many things for us by His Own Initiative. He daily loads us with His Benefits (Psalm 68:19).
However, A Facet of His Manifold Wisdom also requires that we cry out to Him, as moved by His SPIRIT (Romans 8:26-27).
- Another point in Mark 6:48-51 is that JESUS would have passed by the disciples in the boat having trouble on the water if they had not cried out!
How many believers don’t perish in their troubles because they don’t call on GOD?
We must CRY OUT for His Intervention.
Daniel cried out and was heard by GOD immediately:
“O LORD, hear! O LORD, forgive! O LORD, listen and act! Do not delay for Your Own Sake, my GOD, for Your city and Your people are called by Your NAME.” Daniel 9:19.
I usually pray exactly this to GOD.
When we cry out to GOD as led by THE HOLY SPIRIT, He responds speedily.
JESUS likes for us to cry out to Him for His Help.
He even commanded the prophet Isaiah to “Cry out!” (Isaiah 40:6).
Cry out!
Cry out to THE LORD!!
“The LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.
“Farewell” Acts 15:29.
~ Jacob Addison Awagah
Jacob, an apostle of JESUS CHRIST by The Will of GOD, according to The Promise of Life Which is in CHRIST JESUS, (2 Timothy 1:1).
Like John, I like to put my head to The Heart of JESUS so as to know and do His Will always. What’s in His Heart is what matters now and FOREVER. His Heart’s Desire is my only desire. My will is to do His Will.
As John was, I am the disciple whom JESUS loves. And like Paul, I am “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS” (Ephesians 3:1) for His Purpose forever: to obey Him always.
NB. Surely, the disciple whom JESUS loves and “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS”, like ALL The Promises of GOD, are available to every believer to obtain, just as John and Paul did.
“And having been perfected, He [JESUS] became The Author of Eternal Salvation to all who obey Him,” Hebrews 5:9.
