JESUS, Come In And Dine With Me
It is THE Invitation to quickly get — It is an AMAZING, awe-inspiring Invitation of Great Reverence by GOD to you: That you open the door to Him to come in and dine with you.
The Great King, The King of Glory says:
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My Voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20.
Not that JESUS may come, or will come. He is already at the door and knocking — that you hear His Voice and open the door for Him to come in to you and dine with you, and you with Him!
Just imagine the monarch of the United Kingdom or the president of your country doing that for ordinary citizens.
What would have been the response of the citizenry?
Years ago when we used to watch television, my wife and I had a weekly favourite: Come Dine With Me — a dinner party reality show on Channel 4, a major broadcaster in the United Kingdom.
IMDb captured the format very well:
“In order to become the perfect dinner party host, each participant takes turn during the week to cook and entertain the rest. The rivals, meanwhile, snoop around the house and award points in the end.”
The show is narrated by one Dave Lamb, whose crisp English sense of humour and quips about participants’ failings make as much entertainment as the show itself, if not more.
Of all their failings, one was most surprising.
Even for a major, popular national television show, occasionally, some hosts were not ready and waiting to open the door for their guests!
Many believers do this to JESUS all the time.
His Knocks on the door of their hearts are often not given attention to, or are even ignored!
His Promptings to do this and to do that, are not discerned and/or obeyed.
People readily open the door all the time to busyness, but not THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. Ministry, career, children, spouses, and other cares of this life, are given more attention than THE LORD.
Yet, what matters to THE LORD above all things is His Fellowship with us His children, no matter what is happening.
Wherever we are, whatever we are doing, affectionate personal, always-on fellowship with THE LORD is the only thing needed now and forever.
Martha was distracted with much serving, worried and troubled by many things, but Mary sat at The Feet of JESUS and heard His Word.
And JESUS said “one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42).
Fellowship with THE LORD is the one thing needed, and for which He created and saved us.
Don’t deny Him the intimate fellowship He desires and delights in.
In some episodes of Come Dine With Me, guests were kept waiting at the door with gifts for the host.
No human king would visit a host without bearing expensive gifts in hand.
How much more The King of kings coming in to dine with you?
All that I receive from THE LORD are during fellowship with Him, or because of fellowship with Him. (And I’m learning the ropes.)
Yet I do not pursue fellowship with Him because of them, but because of Him.
Many believers never receive the blessings and gifts from THE LORD, because they do not hear Him and open the door for Him.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from THE FATHER of lights, with Whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17.
It happened to me a number of times. A parcel was not delivered to me because I was not available to open the door and sign for it, and receive it from the delivery man.
Our LORD is both The Guest and The Delivery Man. He may send His angels or men, but He is still The One.
As He has said,
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him Who sent Me.” John 13:20.
Just too many are not giving our LORD the attention and fellowship He desires and delights in.
He comes to dine with them but He is STARVED of that worship, that praise, that thanksgiving, that studying of The Word, that prayer, that intercession, that meditation on Him, that adoration of Him. That asking Him before doing things. That asking for His Direction.
That — conversational — fellowship — with — Him. Oh! How can you do that to THE LORD?
Apart from losing blessings here on earth because of this gross negligence, one will also be judged in The Life To Come about starving THE LORD of dining fellowship with Him.
What’s on the menu?
On our part as hosts of The Great King, it is the sacrifices of thanksgiving, praising Him, worshiping Him, loving Him with all our heart, adoring Him, giving Him compliments about His creation, meditating on Him, rejoicing and thanking Him for Eternal Life, praying, fasting and praying, making intercessions, decrees and declarations as led by THE HOLY SPIRIT, yielding to Him, always seeking and doing His Will in everything. Waiting on Him and for Him. Just having fellowship with Him.
On His Part, He releases His Glory, He gives His Choicest Meat (Divine revelations and nourishment), blessings, angelic presence and assistance, The Presence of THE LORD, His Teaching, Wisdom and Knowledge, Divine Strategies and Direction, Divine Strength and Power, Great Power, Great Authority, Great Grace, Great Mercies, Great Faith, Great Glory, Great joy and all His Goodness.
With that cultivated intimate fellowship with THE LORD, you overcome easily. You get His Hidden Manner (exclusive Divine Provision for every area of life), His Rewards of Special Identity and Recognition now and forever.
As THE LORD says:
“He who has an ear, let him hear what THE SPIRIT says to The Churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of The Hidden Manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” Revelation 2:17.
When You open the door for THE LORD to come in, and you honour Him, and fear Him, He makes you dwell in His Secret Place where He gives you His Secrets to succeed in your journey of life.
“The Secret of THE LORD is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His Covenant.” Psalm 25:14.
He will show you great and mighty things which you do not know, (Jeremiah 33:3).
THE LORD’s knocks are simple
THE LORD’s knocks are so simple that it takes sensitive discernment and attentive devotion to hear and open the door for Him.
Yet, in The Life of many, they have time for everyone and everything but not THE LORD.
People have time for everyone and everything except THE LORD Who created time and them, gives them breath every time, and, above all, bought them with His PRECIOUS Blood!
Please repent and make Him your only Priority.
When you make THE LORD your Priority, He will make your affairs and prosperity His priority.
As He has said,
“But seek first The Kingdom of GOD and His Righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33.
“Draw near to GOD and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:8.
Make time for THE LORD always. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. Let Him be your Priority and Pursuit every moment of your breath.
Those nudges and promptings and impressions and inward witness, and so on are His Voice, His priceless invitations to you to invite Him in.
JESUS is at the door right now and knocking with this Word.
Please open for Him to come in and dine with you.
“The LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.

Like John, I like to put my head to The Heart of JESUS so as to know and do His Will always. What’s in His Heart is what matters now and FOREVER. His Heart’s Desire is my only desire.
As John was, I am the disciple whom JESUS loves, (John 13:23;19:26; 20:2; 21:7,20)
And like Paul, Jacob is “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS” (Ephesians 3:1) for His Purpose forever: to obey Him always.
NB. Surely, “the disciple whom JESUS loves” and “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS”, like ALL The Promises of GOD, are available to every believer to obtain, just as John and Paul did.
“And having been perfected, He became The Author of Eternal Salvation to all who obey Him,” Hebrews 5:9.
This Word waited patiently for me yesterday, and truly I was carried away. The Lord revealed to me the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus and this explains more.
