Its Your Choice!
“Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season,” Hebrews 11:25 KJV.
As I was meditating upon The LORD and seeking Him.
These portions of scriptures jumped out at me regarding the choices and the decisions we make regarding the inheritance God has given unto each of His people.
As we know, the story of Jacob (The supplanter) who tricked Esau out of his birth right by appealing to his weaknesses even though he and his mother Rebekah did not have to do all that, because God had already revealed to her that the eldest child would serve the youngest child but like many of us we doubt God and want to ensure we get what is coming to us.
God even went so far as to foretell to her, told her “two nations are in your womb; . . . one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger” (Genesis 25:23).
Yet Rebekah still used Jacob her son to entice the eldest brother out of his birthright because of her impatience and refusal to wait on God.
And, as we all know Esau became a skillful hunter (Genesis 25:27), and his father favored him just as Rebekah did Jacob.
Esau took his hunting seriously. One day he came in from hunting so tired and hungry that he thought he was going to die (revealing that Esau was a person of impatience; as well even a whiner).
Esau was so enticed by his hunger, along with the aroma of the red lentil stew that Jacob had cooked up that he allowed Jacob to convinced him to give up his birthright when Jacob asked for it (verses 29–34).
Why? I believe it was because of the flesh, the desire for the things of this world and because of those desire for food (red beans) and the pleasures of this world was greater than his hunger and his desire for his God,
And, this is why Esau became known as “Edom,” which means “red.”
Not clearly understanding, that the son with the birthright would receive a double portion of the family inheritance, so Esau’s giving up his birthright was a big deal. In order to fill his belly, Esau had “despised his birthright” (verse 34).
I believe that God again is asking His people how bad do you want it?
God has an inheritance for his people but many are like Esau and they want the easy way out and to be more of a pleaser of self than they are of the Almighty God, because many have become like Esau who have allowed their bellies to become their god.
Because of this, Satan has begun to trick them out of the things of God!
On the other hand, Jacob was a trickster but he had something Esau didn’t he had determination, tenacity and he was driven by ambition that he was NOT going to allow anything and nobody from stopping him from getting what belonged to him!
Was that wrong? Yes and no! Yes his methods were unethical, but his methods to go after it with skill and determination was not!
Esau could have endured the suffering and the hunger pains and stood up like a man and said, no matter how hungry I am I refuse to let go of my inheritance!
Something that my father (both natural and spiritual) wants me to have, but instead his belly was more important than his inheritance was! Sounds familiar?
God wants to bless His people, but the god of their bellies are more important than He is!
And, Esau proved it because he willingly gave it to Jacob without even so much as a fight!
Come on somebody! Even now, I believe that God is saying that the one that is willing to be faithful, determined and to endure the hardships in the Kingdom and who will stand up to take the Kingdom by force is the one that shall receive a double portion of His inheritance in this season!
No more whining and being a wimp in his Kingdom but God is looking for those who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice and that will not back up but is willing to fight the enemy tooth and nail for the things that God has promised unto them!
Again, I as you how bad do you want it?
We know that Esau after he realized the mistakes he made took his anger out on Jacob even though Jacob was at fault for disguising himself as his mother told him to deceive his father out of his blessings pretending to be him.
My God, Jacob brought Isaac the meal and pretended he was Esau, telling his father a series of lies.
Isaac believed him and gave Jacob a wonderful blessing that included a prophecy that he would be LORD over his brother (verse 29).
Esau was just as wrong because he failed to stand up to fight to keep it not knowing that God is a man that can repent and change his mind but I believe that because God saw his weaknesses already he knew Esau was not the man for the inheritance allowing Jacob to possess it!
I believe that God is weeding out those who are chosen from those who are not in this season: God’s choice — His election — is at work just as it was for these twins who had not done anything, good or bad.
But, to reveal to us those that are called by the flesh will manifest flesh and those called by the spirit; the spirit.
And, this is why that God’s sovereignty and election cannot be thwarted: “I have loved you,” says The LORD.
But you say, “How have you loved us?”
“Is not Esau, Jacob’s brother?” declares The LORD.
“Yet I have loved Jacob but Esau I have hated. I have laid waste his hill country and left his heritage to jackals of the desert,” Malachi 1:2–3.
