It’s Time to Kick the Bucket List!
It’s Time to Kick the Bucket List
….. And Do This Instead!!
People everywhere want more from their lives, but most of us don’t really have the time for just one more thing.
This was me over 20 years ago.
I felt stuck in my 9-to-5 corporate job. I knew that I had a higher, more fulfilling calling on my life, but had no idea how to get there, or even where to start.
Then God gave me a strategy of doing just one small thing towards something greater. If done consistently, then over time you can actually advance without a lot of effort.
This one thing can be reading a book, doing some research, talking to a friend, praying, finding a coach or any number of things. The amazing part of this concept is that you can apply it to any area of your life where you feel stuck.
Radical change and getting a breakthrough is available to you and it does not need to be difficult or take a lot of effort. Just as God has no limits, what you can accomplish through His love and power has no limits as well.
Dream thief
Do you feel like you are called to something greater in life?
I was a successful computer network engineer and made good money, but it drained me terribly and I knew God was calling me to full-time ministry. At the time, I was too busy and could not afford to go off to Bible College. But then the LORD spoke to me what I am sharing with you.
Too often, we get so caught up in day-to-day tasks that we miss the invitation to do something more. Busyness can be a dream thief and fool us, making us think we are accomplishing something. But later in life, as we look back, there is often not much to show for all our efforts.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10 NIV.
Do you want more?
We all need a greater purpose in life and to be part of something that is bigger than ourselves. We want to know that our lives have more meaning than going to work or church and coming home, watching movies, surfing the Internet or playing video games.
There is nothing wrong with these things, but most people want more from life than just making a living and being entertained.
Have you ever felt like something is holding you back from your life dreams? There is a dream thief that can try to take away your passions. We were all designed to have passion for living and to live life with purpose.
Ultimately, receiving God’s love and power is what will change you the most. But even still, there are many people who have done this, yet remain unfulfilled and adrift.
Even better than a bucket list
Take some time to pray and ask God to show you things about your greater purpose and life calling. God wants to give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4), and this becomes easier as your heart comes in line with His.
If you have not done so already, make a “desires of your heart list.”
This is even better than a bucket list! These are the things that you would like to do and would bring you the greatest joy. It does not mean that you have to accomplish them all, but it is a good place to start.
One small thing
What are you planning for the summer?
This is a great time to spend with family and get away. But it can also be a time when you make a decision to do just one thing towards what you feel called to do.
This is a time like no other to find and fulfill your greater purpose in life. You were destined to do great things and it does not have to be difficult. It is as easy as doing one small thing!
