It is Either – Or!
We can have great wealth.
We can have successful careers.
We can have the finest clothing.
We can have the nicest cars.
We can have great fame.
We can have the most beautiful homes.
We can have the respect of others.
We can have an abundance of relationships.
We can have a wonderful marriage.
We can have good health.
We can have perfect church attendance.
We can have a perfect tithing record.
We can have a generous heart.
We can have everything we have sought in this world,
and yet in the end still wind up with NOTHING.
OR
We can accept God’s grace by receiving Jesus as our LORD and Savior and with or without the things above we have received an abundance that will never be taken from us.
There are many wonderful things in this world and yet the combined total of them cannot scratch the surface of God’s love.
* * * * *
As we learn the law and begin using it as the measuring stick for our “goodness” we begin using language like, “I hope that I am good enough to get into heaven.”
We serve so that we will be seen as “better” and hope that God will be impressed by the amassing of our good works.
Yet none of us are good enough on our own and there is no Bell Curve in God’s righteous standard. We all fall short. Through the law we earn nothing but death.
Yet by grace through Christ Jesus receive life. This life is not on a time table. It does not expire tomorrow, next month or next year. It is ETERNAL life and it is only available to those who receive Christ Jesus as their LORD.
Are you relying on your goodness to earn God’s favor?
Are you striving to do more and be more?
It’s time to set aside these futile efforts and embrace Jesus! There are none good enough on their own and none beyond His grace when we simply accept His gift.
