Israel: Cris de Coeur
Dear Friends,
Yesterday and today the people of Israel fell silent in honor of Yom HaZikaron (Memorial Day), a time in which we honor the fallen Israeli soldiers that died defending their nation and homeland. Freedom comes at a heavy price!
Today at sundown the nation transitions into a time of celebration with Yom Ha’atzmaut (Independence Day), when we celebrate the independence & freedom of Israel!
This national celebration comes during a turbulent time, when Israel’s enemy continues in hostility and Israel’s leaders work diligently to form a lasting government.
In light of these events, may we continue to keep the Apple of God’s Eye in our prayers and turn our Cris de Coeur (heart cry) to the Lord!
In the article below, Jan Willem van der Hoeven explores the scriptures for a solution to the political deadlock in Israel today.
Cris de Coeur
Will the ultra-right in Israel again help the Left in preventing a Conservative, Bibi-led Government?
There came a time during the eventful life of David that in his fear of King Saul — who threatened to kill him — he fled for safety right into the hands of the Philistines.
David even made an agreement with Achish, one of the Philistine leaders, to protect himself from the ‘Sinat Achim’ of his own people, being willing to be under Achish’s protection for one year and four months as 1 Samuel 27-28 reports:
“But David thought to himself, ‘One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me anywhere in Israel, and I will slip out of his hand.’ So David and the six hundred men with him left and went over to Achish son of Maok King of Gath.” 1 Samuel 27:1-2 NKJV.
“When Saul was told that David had fled to Gath, he no longer searched for him.” 1 Samuel 27:4 NKJV
Likewise, now it is entirely wise and reasonable for the next Netanyahu Government to have a temporal agreement with one of the Palestinian leaders, Mahmoud Abbas, as David did with one of the Philistine leaders like Achish, without, I repeat without losing — because of this choice — the goodwill and anointing of Hashem, the G-d of Israel.
At this moment in Israel’s present dangerous period, Israel’s Left — like Saul — is more dangerous than Mahmoud Abbas, even if he has been and is part of the overall Palestinian-led danger to Israel.
I hope that the party of Smotrich and Ben-Gvir will follow David’s example at this time and not give the Left a chance!
Let us all pray for the favor of the LORD on this Independence Day.
