Is There Fruit in Your Basket?
The principle of Sowing and Reaping is one of the most profound and most widely used principles I have found in the scriptures.
It is everywhere and found in most situations in the Bible.
Consequences — good or bad — come from every choice we make, every seed we sow.
So, let’s look at what the Word of God has to say about sowing and reaping and Giving.
The LORD said to me, “Giving is central to My heart, and yet it is the hardest for My People to do — because of the pull of the flesh.”
In Galatians 6:7-9
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:7-9
You and I need to examine our motives for whatever we do, yes The LORD is looking at our heart to see why we have made the choices we have made.
Are we allowing the flesh, our own desires, to rule our decisions, or the Spirit, choosing to follow His will.
Remember the principle here, we will reap something from what we have sown, either life or death.
Notice 2 Corinthians 9:6-15
“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness; being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God; whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men; and by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-15
If we sow little, we will reap little, but if we sow much we will reap much.
YOU DECIDE! He’s looking for the one who’s heart is in his giving.
When you are given the opportunity to give, do you allow the enemy to share all the excuses about why not to give, and then decide accordingly? or are you a cheerful giver, seeking His guidance? What will you reap?
Let Grace abound in your life, experience sufficiency in everything and abundance for every good deed as you practice giving.
Remember He is your supply for seed, so ask Him for seed to sow and to multiply your resources for sowing to increase the harvest of your righteousness.
As you give, be generous, this will bring forth thanksgiving to God. Yes The LORD reaps Praise and Thanksgiving as a result of these love gifts.
Let’s not forget He is the Author of Giving, for He has sown His very life that we might reap everlasting life with Him. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
