Is there a difference between Sin and Sin?
Yes, the Bible does draw this difference whether or not we wish to agree. תּוֹעֵבַה [tô‛êbah] ‘Abominations,’ is how the Word of God describes the worst sins, and it was precisely because of such iniquity or abominations that God cast the original Canaanite inhabitants and others out of His land.
This is how it is written:
“Moreover you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor’s wife, to defile yourself with her. And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the Lord. You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion. Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you. For whoever commits any of these abominations, the persons who commit them shall be cut off from among their people. Therefore you shall keep My ordinance, so that you do not commit any of these abominable customs which were committed before you, and that you do not defile yourselves by them: I am the Lord your God,” Leviticus 18:20-30.
Not only does the Word of God lists these sins (and others) as the primary reason for the expulsion of these previous nations from the land; they were also the main reason God’s judgment fell on nations and cities. Sodom and Gomorrah are only two of the many examples we could mention here. In a wider sense, the collapse of Greek and Roman societies was also a result of this same moral depravity. As the Apostle Paul writes:
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man – and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them,” Romans 1:18-32.
Therefore it is clear that one of the indications that we are today drawing close to the same judgments and expressions of God’s wrath is that there exists a flagrant disregard for how God feels about these abominations. And the more willfully and aggressively we parade these perversions in public, the more certain it is that we will draw out God’s judgment upon us!
So we see cities and entire civilizations were judged and destroyed because of the widespread and belligerently insisted upon practice of these – as the Scriptures call them – abominations.
We see this same sordid aggressiveness in Genesis 19:
“Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground. And he said, “Here now, my lords, please turn in to your servant’s house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way.” And they said, “No, but we will spend the night in the open square.” But he insisted strongly; so they turned in to him and entered his house. Then he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.” So Lot went out to them through the doorway, shut the door behind him, and said, “Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly! …….
And they said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door. But the men reached out their hands and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. And they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they became weary trying to find the door. Then the men said to Lot, “Have you anyone else here? Son-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city – take them out of this place! For we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the Lord, and the Lord has sent us to destroy it,” Genesis 19:1-7, 9-13.
This is an amazing, most revealing story. It shows what we indeed see today, in many in the so-called ‘gay community’ – their aggressiveness and the concomitant fury they show in regard to anyone who dares to judge them, as written here: ‘Have you now come to judge us?’
We see this same perverse belligerence manifested in the “LGTB” agenda with its blatantly pornographic parades and expressions of violence against those still decent enough to object to their public display of what God Himself calls abominations!
That Tel Aviv, the “New York” of the reborn Jewish state, is proud to be one of the most welcoming cities in the world to those who choose to practice this lifestyle is dreadful – dreadful also because in the end it will tear from heaven God’s answer to these things!
If it is not reprehensible enough that many do these things in secret, giving them public expression shows the utter rebelliousness at the core of it. Well does the Bible say:
“Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due……
who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them,” Romans 1:27, 32.
It is as if Satan, the destroyer of nations and mankind, knows that only when he can seduce humanity into embracing these immoral and rebellious ways can he have his field day, and see God’s destruction eventually rain from heaven onto all the earth as it did on Sodom and Gomorrah.
Is it a coincidence that one of the most openly homosexual cities in the world, San Francisco, is also the international headquarters of Satan’s Church?
And is it not odd, and revealing, that much of the Nazi leadership who were instruments of such destruction in Europe were practicing homosexuals, as is revealed by Scott Lively and Kevin Abrahams in their well-documented “The Pink Swastika”? It seems these two go hand in hand in the end, causing awful destruction.
May I end this article by some quotes from the second letter of the Apostle Peter:
“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber. For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds) — then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord. But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children ……
These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever,” 2 Peter 2:1-14, 17.
But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance, (2 Peter 3:7-9).
When one thinks that, according to Roman Catholic teaching, this Peter was the “first Pope,” how different his words sound in comparison with the more kind and inclusive words which come out of Rome, from those who believe themselves to be his successors! His successors? Where is the same seriousness then that we find in the words of this Peter?
Significantly, it is often the more liberal, left-leaning individuals who, under the slogan of human rights, elevate these abominable lifestyles to normal and acceptable behavior, ignoring fully with their own overemphasis on human rights – human obligations as decreed by the Creator of Adam and Eve.
As my father once said, there is a totally wrong relationship today between statistics and ethics, with the ethical standards increasingly governed by the statistics. In other words, if enough people find a certain lifestyle acceptable, then the ethics have to change, not the people!
In this very way the Apostle Paul explains that the upholding of the law and the requirements of God are divine instruments that are meant to lead us to repentance, or teshuva as it is termed in Hebrew. There is hope for the worst sinner, as Old and New Testament clearly show – even for those who have lived their lives in these abominations, there is hope for salvation.
If we confess our sins, writes John the Apostle, God is faithful and just to restore and forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, (see 1 John 1:9).
So however much we rebel against the laws and standards of our Creator in refusing, with all the clamor we make about our rights, to even hear about His obligations upon us – there is a wonderful, wonderful side to this all. If we allow God’s law and requirements to bring us to repentance and confession of our need of Him, we will experience His cleansing and forgiveness, and, as the Scriptures teach, the door will be opened to an entirely new life.
This is not talking about excusing our sins; and certainly not – as so often today – a justification and reasonable explanation of our sins, no. But an honest repentance and confession will bring us to His salvation, whatever the sin may have been. This then is the wonder of God’s grace!
Thus Israel, whom I love and care about, and who is meant to be a light to the nations, finds herself in a heart-wrenching dilemma. Does she wish to “pride” herself, as she indeed does in Tel Aviv, in being like the goyim and, sometimes, even more flagrantly behaved than them? Or does she wish to be, by way of Jerusalem, different from the nations; a guide to a better world as was promised to her?
“The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore,” Isaiah 2:1-4.
For those who still insist on keeping to their ways in rebelliousness and “gay pride” activity, the same prophet, Isaiah, has these words from the Lord:
“For the day of the Lord of hosts shall come upon everything proud and lofty, upon everything lifted up – and it shall be brought low – …..
They shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, from the terror of the Lord and the glory of His majesty, when He arises to shake the earth mightily,” Isaiah 2:12, 19.
May at least Israel, therefore, choose to be different from the nations instead of following in their abominable ways, I pray.
