In the Coming Days, Don’t Be Like Lot’s Wife
Every time I read the story of Lot’s wife I have compassion for her.
What made her look back?
“But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” Genesis 19:26 NKJV
We know that Sodom and Gomorrah was a very wicked place, kind of like the world is right now in places.
We know that when people mock God it doesn’t go well with them, and He always brings His righteous judgement.
It’s not only happened in Sodom, but in other nations as well. I can’t see Him holding back His anger very much longer, to be honest.
What pulled Lot’s wife’s heart so strongly that she had to look back?
Some people think she was enjoying that lifestyle and couldn’t bear leaving for an unknown place. My heart tells me it was her family whom were left behind.
I can’t say that in the coming days I wouldn’t be tempted to look back to see if my family was with me — although they are adults.
As our children and family are growing up it’s our responsibility to train them up in the ways of The LORD.
I love family with all my heart — but, I can’t save their souls!
It’s our duty to pray for them to know Jesus, but it is He Who saves them.
I may be stepping on some toes here, but I have to write what I believe The LORD has given me to write.
Too many people have put their children before God. Literally… We were visiting friends once and we were talking about the rapture and the woman exclaimed ‘He can’t come back right now, because my children need me.’
What? I want my children saved more than anything this world has to offer. But I love Jesus more. I was fretting once over my son not serving The LORD right now, even though he’d been saved and baptized at 13 years of age.
God spoke to me and said, “‘Linda, I want him more than you do!”
That calmed my heart and mind. But it is still my duty to pray over him that his eyes would be opened to the Truth.
But I can’t save him as much as I want to take him and shake Jesus into him!
The Bible has this very hard truth — and it IS a hard truth. We have to love Jesus more than anything in this world.
“One day when large groups of people were walking along with him, Jesus turned and told them, “Anyone who comes to me but refuses to let go of father, mother, spouse, children, brothers, sisters — yes, even one’s own self! — can’t be my disciple. Anyone who won’t shoulder his own cross and follow behind me can’t be my disciple.”” Luke 14:26 MSG
OUCH! We love them, but we don’t own them. God does.
We are very much living in the days of Sodom. We need to be so tuned into what God is saying and doing right now because the days are indeed short!
We need to be about His Business, and taking as many people to Heaven with us as we can, and that includes our children.
Tell them about Jesus and pray, pray, pray…and then pray some more.
God is faithful and He will bring your children through. Jesus has been saving people a lot longer than we have and once The Holy Spirit begins pulling on someone’s heart… who can resist that Love?
We need to trust our families to God. They’re His anyway — and He’s just given us the amazing privilege and honour of raising them and loving them for a while.

What a great word Linda, and so so timely. xoxo Sandi
yes.Amen.
Psalms124:7-8 NASB
Our souls have escaped like a bird from the trapper’s snare;
The snare is broken and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
Thank you sister. Very encouraging.
Yes (and we can take this as Godly counsel, not not with superstition). Yesterday, I casually dropped a pliers onto a counter and it made three quick sounds. I heard, “Don’t look back.”
Our families are in God’s hands, He will make sure they enter in, we play our own part by praying for them. Shalom everyone.
Be encouraged. God is doing a “new thing” in the lives of our young people! I’m certain there are a lot of other mothers, me included who can testify of miraculous change and encounters in the lives of our children! As the young people say here in the USA when in agreement “BET!” I just made it an acronym for Be Encouraged Trust /GOD. In amazement…It will happen!
So true about mothers and their children. It was a good word for me, thank you!
Beautiful word! Thank You,Jesus!! (and thank you, Linda )
Facing the exact situation, the Lord told me not long ago, “You cannot be someone’s Holy Spirit.”
Wow. Yes. I love it when He speaks and straightens everything out with just a few words.
God bless you ~
So true, we mothers are always thinking about our children and their spiritual state.
I can confirm that The Lord knows and love them more than we do and he even knows why they do what they do and he has his ways of addressing all issues and even transforming them . We only have to pray and have faith in such a loving and great God.
Praise God.
Bless you sister
