Idolatry and The Will of God
Idolatry: Anything put before the Will of God is an idol and if not repented of (stopped being done) and will send you to hell.
The Holy Spirit has a still, small, quiet voice you have to deliberately listen too to hear it above the world around you.
The relationship with The Holy Spirit is a gentle one as He is gentle by nature, because He is Love.
This means you must focus on what He says to you with His gentle prompts.
He does not shout to you like Satan does, using the things of the world around you to block out The Holy Spirit — but quietly prompts you and guides you.
So you’re sitting in front of the television and The Holy Spirit prompts you gently to ring someone and encourage them for Him. You ignore it and keep watching. The television show has just become an idol for you.
You are in a shop and a poorly dressed woman finds she does not have sufficient to pay for her purchases, but you do. So you look away instead of helping her. That money has become an idol for you.
You are at a party and all leave but you, leaving the hostess to wash up after 40 people. The Spirit prompts you to help her, but you leave. Whatever you are going to, is an idol for you.
Your missed blessings from God will be forgiven if you repent, but you can never undo the consequences of that particular sin you have committed, of not showing God’s quality of Love to someone who needs help.
Remember, it must be something The Holy Spirit prompts you to do, and not what another says you should be doing.
So you need to walk with one ear on The Holy Spirit, so you can hear His guidance.
For as many as are guided by The Spirit of God, are the children of God!
