I will pitch the Tent of My Glory
I will pitch the Tent of My Glory
in your midst as you tell them your story!
Oh Lord, pitch a tent over me!
The Lord showed me something the other day. God showed me a person standing and giving their testimony in church service. When they spoke, the glory began to shine so brightly out of them because when we become vulnerable enough to speak about what Jesus brought us out of, self and pride have to go and Jesus is seen instead of us! He said that this is when My glory shines brightest in you!
“But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (Yes,may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (AMPC).
Whewww. isn’t that a powerful scripture for us who feel weak in our callings?
His Glory comes in YOUR testimony!
I remember back when I first got saved and filled with the Holy Spirit some
35 years ago now. We had just a few people in that old Assembly Of God Church. Our pastor many times, would have testimony night and a sweet sister, who has passed on now, would get up and tell about how God had healed even the smallest things on her children, because she was a widow and had no money at the time for Doctors.
I tell you, this woman had nothing in the natural for anyone to be envious about, but when she would testify, the Glory of God would show up and it would take us into an intense time of worship and I don’t mean with a five piece band either!
Someone would just begin to yell from their innermost being. “JESUS I LOVE YOU!” Soon another guttural shout of ” Thank you jesus ,your my healer!” then before you knew it people would begin sobbing all over the congregation then they would make their way toward the altar and god would heal them in this glory!
You see, her sacrifice of praise would glorify Jesus as the healer and it would reproduce the healing miracle in the hearers. Why? Because Jesus was lifted up as “THE HEALER!” through her testimony and His glory would show up!
Let’s fix their eyes on Him and not us
Jesus said that if HE was lifted up, that all men would be drawn to Him! (John 12:32). The power of our testimony to reproduce the same miracles in others that HE produced in us, is amazing, when we humble ourselves and tell others where we came from and how Jesus brought us through!
It takes people’s eyes off of us and onto their only help WHICH IS JESUS. It is when we get to thinking that all of our programs and all of our perfect talents and gifts are what draws others to Christ is working that God will come and pull the rug out from under that thing!
It is only when Jesus is magnified through our imperfections that others see Him in all of His glory!
It’s not about Talent, but telling about Jesus
So some may ask, “What is my calling in this life? I believe our main calling is this….. That we’ re to glorify him and not us! We are stressed out many times thinking that others are so talented and I am not gifted and so on, when all god requires of us is to give him the glory through our testimony!
It is what you have, even in your darkest hour. It is where God shows up and begins to give others hope against hope! They then see, “if He can do it for you, then He can do it for me!” You are His glory in the midst of the darkness!
“But you are chosen people. You are the King’s priests. You are a holy nation. You are a nation that belongs to God alone. God chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (ICB).
Your testimony works resurrection power
You see, God comes and rescues those who love Him so that you can give Him the Glory! This testimony of his grace and power in the midst of your weakness, no matter how that takes shape in your life, becomes the resurrection power of Christ in those that witness it!
It is your calling to show forth his praises so that others may experience this resurrection power!!
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed — always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death is working in us, but life in you.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-12 (NKJV).
