I Lay My Heart Bare
A psalm to praise and sing to God, out loud.
I Lay My Heart Bare
I lay my heart bare before You LORD Jesus
Surrendered to You completely,
Without covering,
Without double mindedness;
Open like a book,
For only You know what lies in my heart;
Its strengths and its weaknesses…
I do not even pretend
To know all of what dwells in my heart,
Nor its deep depths
And great mysteries;
Nor its hidden passions
And self serving agendas
For a leading by the heart is not Wisdom…
My eyes and ears and mouth
Have done the leading of my heart
Before I knew Thee—
And even now, after being filled with Your Spirit,
I must keep them in check,
For they are the gates to my soul that lead to my heart
Which I must guard closely, for all matters stem from it…
I do not lean upon my own understanding
I do not lean upon my own strength
I do not lean upon my own wisdom—
For it is folly
A man’s ways deceive him with the vanity of his ego;
Deceive him in his own might and strength
Causing him to stray
Oh LORD I know You test
Not to bring me down,
But to see what lies in my mind
So take from my heart all that is a stumbling block
And plant in it a garden yielding good works
Following Your Ways, not my heart’s,
With a path where I walk in Peace with You…
I lay my heart bare before You LORD Jesus
Surrendered to You completely,
Without covering,
Without double mindedness;
Open like a book,
For only You know what lies in my heart;
Its strengths and its weaknesses…
So take it…
Take my heart…
So take it…
Take my heart…
Transform it
Shape it
To Your Desire and Purpose
For Your Glory!
Here is my heart
Laid bare
Surrendered
To You…
Surrendered
To You…
