I Hope That I Am Good Enough…..
Somewhere in our lives we are taught the law code and begin to use language like, “I hope that I am good enough to get into Heaven…..”
We serve so that we will be seen as “better” and hope that God will be impressed by our good works. However, the fact is that no one good enough.
Through the law code we earn nothing but death. Yet through grace by Jesus’ sacrifice we find life; a life more abundant than our wildest expectations!
Are you trying to earn God’s love through your self efforts?
It is important to understand this. God’s love is given freely but it can never be earned. No one will never stand before Him and say, “Because I did this good act I earned Your love.”
What He desires is that we accept His grace freely and allow it to transform our lives.
Good deeds will never earn God’s love but they are a manifestation of His transformative power at work in our hearts. We do these things in response to having already received it.
“All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away,” Isaiah 64:6.
“There is none righteous, no not one,” Romans 3:10.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast,” Ephesians 2:8-9.
