How to React to Change with Grace
Are you feeling like change is in the air?
In my latest prophetic word, I shared that there will be no more delays starting in the month of May.
Many of us have been asking God for promotions, new revelation, alignment, etc. Things that have been holding you back in the past are now going to shift so you can break through!
If you’re feeling a little uncertain with all the shifting going on, The LORD wants to encourage you today.
Elijah brings the rain
Elijah was a prophet in the Bible. One day, God instructed him to have a meeting with a King named Ahab to let him know there would be no rain for the next few years (1 Kings 17:1).
Three years later, God told Elijah to tell Ahab that rain was finally coming.
“After a long time, in the third year, the word of The LORD came to Elijah: “Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land,”” 1 Kings 18:1 NIV
God did as Elijah said, and rain washed away the drought. Afterward, Elijah hid in a cave and began to complain before he fell asleep.
“I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep,” 1 Kings 19:4–5 NIV
Remember the simple things
Elijah had just done this incredible miracle and obviously felt drained! Now watch what God does for him:
“All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again,” 1 Kings 19:5–6 NIV.
It’s interesting to me that the first thing God did for Elijah was offer him food and allow him to rest!
Sometimes, we forget the most simple, basic things we need to do in order to enjoy the good things God has for us. Elijah was so exhausted, he thought he was too tired to go on living — when really, he just needed a nice, long sleep and some food!
God knows your needs — big and small!
In this season, your time of waiting is coming to an end! When these sorts of changes start happening, we can be tempted to take life so seriously that we forget the most basic things.
Remember that God is the one who can hold back the rain and end a drought, but He also put a prophet to sleep and fed him when he was cranky.
The Bread of Life
Jesus even called Himself, “The Bread of Life.”
“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty,” John 6:35 NIV.
Don’t forget to feed yourself spiritually, physically and emotionally as God is fulfilling His promises to you. This can be as simple as taking a few hours to reconnect with The LORD, grabbing lunch with a friend … or simply taking a nap like Elijah needed to.
The LORD desires for your passion to burn for Him, but He doesn’t want you to suffer from burnout. God is bringing you rest and perfect peace to give you strength through all the change!
Blessings,
