How to Find God’s Clues to Your Destiny
We are all born with an amazing potential to fulfill the highest destiny and purpose in God, yet we settle for what we think we can do. So what is your destiny in God? Let’s find some clues to your destiny and look at some tactics the enemy uses to keep those clues hidden.
What is your amazing potential?
God’s love and power is limitless and what we can accomplish with His Holy Spirit working through us is also limitless. But the enemy comes in with what I call “spiritual identity theft.” This occurs when you do not think you have any potential or a clear destiny.
Here are two of my favorite destiny-tracking tools:
1. Look at the area of attack
I have found after working with thousands of people through Life Coaching and my seminars that the areas of your life where you experience the most attack or resistance may very well be an indicator of some of your gifts and callings.
Why would Satan waste time attacking you if you did not have a great destiny to fulfill?
When fear held my destiny back
In my case, I had a recurring nightmare from an early age that I was being chased by something evil. I would be frozen in place and could not move in the dream. For years I would wake up running and screaming loudly through my house. This was alarming to my family and later my roommates. They thought I had psychological problems but what they did not realize was that I had a destiny in God that Satan did not want me to fulfill.
After I began pursuing my destiny, the nightmares went away. God had given me this dreaming gift early on in my life and He intended for it to be used for good. But Satan caused it to be mixed with fear to try and stop me from seeing it.
Where have you been attacked? It is a major clue to your destiny.
2. Night dreams
Now I help people who are stuck and not able to move forward in their lives. I also have discovered that there are many dreams you have at night which point toward your life dreams. I have developed a free e-book “Night Dreams that Reveal Your Life Dreams” on that special topic (you can click here to get it).
Spiritual identity theft derails your destiny
There are a couple of destiny-stealing, spiritual identity theft tactics designed to keep you from fulfilling your highest potential and destiny in God:
1. You have to be perfect to experience your destiny
There is a viewpoint held by some Christians that if you can avoid sin at all costs and become holy, then you will have a close relationship with God and can start walking out your destiny.
Although there is some truth to that, the downside is: You can become so focused on avoiding sin that it becomes all you think about. If you are spending a lot of effort on being holy, then you can feel guilty and condemned in areas of your life that have not been worked out yet.
Trust that the Holy Spirit will convict you of sin, and notice when Satan tries to condemn you, causing you to feel separated from God when you sin.
Getting right with God
A better approach to holiness is getting a closer relationship with God by placing your focus on His goodness and love for you. Yes, repent when you fall short. But if you put your energy toward doing good and loving others instead of avoiding sin you will find yourself sinning less.
2. Your identity is based on rules not in relationship
Condemnation is a strategy of Satan to steal away our most basic and profound identity: that you are a son or daughter of God. You can have a close relationship with Him that is not based on rules but on the Father’s great love and the Son’s great sacrifice for us.
