How to Change Hollywood?
I wonder which is more effective in provoking Hollywood to “clean up their act?”
Christians complaining about movies they’ve seen that violate their beliefs, sensibilities and moral judgment
OR…
Christians (according to polls that’s supposed to be a lot of us!) simply refusing to see movies that promote sex and sexuality, vulgarity, profanity, violence, murder, etc?
If we refuse to see at the movies what we know we do not truly agree with, then our dollar, or lack thereof, becomes our voice.
How many of us have allowed repeated use of our LORD’s Name in vain in what we watch and dismissed it? I have. Or I should say that I used to.
Jesus has done a work in me and lit a fire of zeal for His name.
I consider that our God is a Holy and Righteous God, a God who deserves our awe and reverence. Yet He and His Name are thrown around coarsely and cheaply repeatedly in the shows self-proclaimed CHRISTIANS watch.
I don’t know how I did it to myself before, polluting my mind, my soul, my spirit (all of which belong to Him) but now that He has detoxed me, my teeth clench when I hear my LORD’s name used in such a manner.
I consider the reality of the cross, the price that was paid on my behalf, the one who died for me and what He bought and purchased that I could never afford.
Do I seem like a legalist? That’s the best part, I’m not!
As a matter of fact, I’m free! I am so free that if I am watching something on television and someone takes my LORD’s name in vain, I shut it off and if it was a show, I never watch it again; if it was a movie, I won’t ever resume it.
I am free not to see these things that soil me, or hear those things that grieve my spirit. You have that freedom too. But I have to tell you, first you need to want it.
And to tie this up in a neat bow, when we refuse to go and pay money to see a movie that ultimately violates our consciences, our statement is only half made.
We must make a conscientious effort to take the money we were throwing away on trash and invest it to see good, positive movies.
They don’t have to be Christian movies, but movies that lift up instead of tearing down.
Hollywood goes where the money is and our choices could bring transformation in Hollywood.
But I guarantee either way, if you choose this freedom the greatest transformation will be in your heart!
Call me a dreamer…..

I agree with you that we should not be participating in any of these movies or shows or games that the world’s system is sending out. Our mind and our heart is being polluted by these types of shows that are becoming more and more evil and demonic. People will just begin thinking that this is all normal when they have consumned this viewing, and hearts could become hardened to evil events. We must make a stand, for the Will and the Word of God or fall for anything the world gives out and become corrupt in the world’s system.
Absolutely. Phenomenal. Thanks brother.
I’m so glad you dared to bring this up. For the past year, I have been without tv. I live in a rural area where you must have satellite or cable. I refuse to pay for either. Do you know I don’t miss it? Some of my professing Christian friends can’t imagine how I go without. I’m free!
