How To Be Strong When Weak
“Concerning this thing I pleaded with THE LORD three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My Grace is sufficient for you, for My Strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities [i.e. weaknesses, inabilities], that The Power of CHRIST may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for CHRIST’s Sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:8-10.
Experiencing weaknesses, reproaches, needs, persecutions, and distresses some of the time is an integral part of our journey of entering The Narrow Gate and walking on The Difficult Way Which leads to Life (2 Corinthians 1:8-20; Matthew 7:13-14).
But when having trials and tribulations, it is not of GOD and by GOD to be feeling down. Thoughts that make you feel down are from down bellow (the pit of hell).
You have to switch to Thoughts from Above (Heaven) according to Colossians 3:1-3; Jeremiah 29:11, pulling down strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against The Knowledge of GOD, punishing all disobedience (the devil and the works of the devil).
“For to be carnally minded is death, but to be Spiritually minded is Life and Peace.” Romans 8:6.
Depression, despair, discouragement, hopelessness, and other mental oppressions are not and cannot be solved TRULY by medical, psychiatric and psychological treatment. They are spiritual problems only truly treated by Biblically Spiritual Solutions by THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Divine Strength is the only solution for human weakness. And that, through THE CROSS: The Sacrifice of CHRIST for our Salvation and Deliverance.
How can you get strong when weak?
- Believe; Have Faith in GOD (Mark 11:22; John 14:1).
No matter what we are going through, we must choose to believe in GOD for His Deliverance, His Intervention. There is no other way to be delivered.
We must believe and call on GOD (Jeremiah 33:3).
“For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for The Same LORD over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on THE NAME OF THE LORD shall be saved.” Romans 10:11-13.
Years ago, while alone in the mission field in Ghana during a particularly painfully dark period of my life, I was under relentless onslaught by darkness against my Knowledge of GOD.
It started about four years earlier while I had been preaching on the doorstep, going from house to house, street by street, walking miles upon miles in the UK’s richest county, Surrey (just outside London; within its commuter belt).
THE LORD had blessed us with an ultramodern new build apartment there. When we relocated there from London I promised to take the land for Him.
This was not Africa or India, or some other developing part of the world with open idol worship in some places. But in the wealthiest county (of nearly all white population) in the United Kingdom, I was being violently attacked by occultists and satanists with serious witchcraft.
So much so that sometimes my vision became blurred while walking the streets, and I had to fight in prayer declarations to recover my sight.
( Many of the residents said to me that they were atheists, and repelled The Gospel. But THE HOLY SPIRIT told me that some were satanists using atheism as a mask.
Some weeks or months later, I read an Internet post/ testimony by a brother, a former satanist, saying exactly that).
My spiritual battle and torment had become protracted.
Now in the mission field, for the umpteenth time, I was again “being bludgeoned” (as an English sister had put it after seeing A Vision of me under a similar previous attack more than a year earlier back in England. )
( It’s a spiritual irony many experience in ministry: I had been ministering Salvation and Deliverance, healing and prosperity to people, but in big trouble myself. )
My brain and mind were in exceedingly great and EXCRUCIATINGLY PAINFUL TORMENT. No neurosurgeon could have helped in anyway, because the problem was spiritual (although manifesting in physical pains).
On this particular day, in the mission field, I was walking in the fenced compound of the mission house, punch drunk.
Suddenly, I heard an angel hurriedly following me close behind my left flank and said behind my left ear (with empathetic urgency in his voice): “Believe, believe!”
About two years later, THE HOLY SPIRIT gave me Revelation of Ephesians 6:16, that Faith (believing) is The Armour above all.
Mental oppressions are literally flaming arrows thrown by Satan into a person’s brain and mind as oppressive thoughts. They are only quenched by Faith (Ephesians 6:16) in GOD and His WORD, yes, Faith in The Power of GOD (1 Corinthians 2:4-5).
“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But A Good Word makes it glad.” Proverbs 12:25.
What is “A Good Word”?
“THE GOOD WORD OF GOD” (Hebrews 6:5).
So, to dispel and destroy anxiety, fear, despair, depression and other oppressions of the devil, you have to BELIEVE, decree and declare THE WORD OF GOD as led by THE HOLY SPIRIT regarding the situation.
When feeling despair, when you’re discouraged or overwhelmed by your circumstances, just declare in Faith:
In JESUS’ NAME, I command over me Beauty for ashes, The Oil of Joy for mourning, The Garment of Praise for the spirit of heaviness.
I command that THE GOD OF HOPE fill me with All Joy and Peace in believing, that I abound in Hope by The Power of THE HOLY SPIRIT.
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—always carrying about in the body The Dying of THE LORD JESUS, that THE LIFE OF JESUS also be manifested in our body.
Decree and declare:
“In JESUS’ NAME, I deploy The Weapons of our warfare against you evil spirits, pulling down strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against The Knowledge of GOD, punishing you all disobedience, for my obedience is fulfilled: I submit to GOD and resist you the devil, and you flee from me according to His WORD.”
( The above prayer declarations are based on Isaiah 61:1-11; Romans 15:19; 2 Corinthians 4:8-10; 10:4-6.
Use other Scriptures THE HOLY SPIRIT gives you. Depend entirely on Him for Utterance and other actions in battle and combat. )
- Praise and worship THE LORD
When, by THE SPIRIT, you fervently praise and worship THE LORD, He literally comes down with His deliverance, miracles, and answers to prayer.
Jehoshaphat and his people had victory this way (2 Chronicles 20).
Paul and Silas, while praying and praising GOD, were most POWERFULLY dramatically delivered out of maximum security prison.
”But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to GOD, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.” Acts 16:25-26.
Their prayers and praises released The Power of GOD which caused a great earthquake that shook the foundations of the prison, opened the prison doors and loosed their chains. Hallelu-YAH!
HOLY SPIRIT-led prayers and praises will deliver you from any prison you are in, physical or spiritual.
You have to always ask for Grace to praise and worship THE LORD exactly as pleases Him; to praise Him as the holy angels do in Heaven. Ask for The Anointing of Hebrews 2:12 to do this.
I had a dream a couple of months ago. There were two angels around. One of them was giving me some background information on how things work from Heaven.
He said: “Things that attract miracles are
NUMBER one: worship.
Two: Being in Church service.” ( I understood that to mean when one is especially early.
The number two point is supported by Hebrews 10:25. )
Still in the dream, when the angel mentioned worship as the number one thing that attracts miracles, I called to mind and was assessing my times of worship if they were meaningful and long/ sustained enough (not of works, just appropriateness as acceptable and pleasing to GOD).
The dream is very instructive and insightful for our victory.
Take great pleasure in worshiping GOD with The Help of THE HOLY SPIRIT, whether things are going well or not.
That’s what it means to worship GOD in Spirit and in Truth (as Paul and Silas did in the midst of their serious trouble). It is HOLY SPIRIT-led worship. Not fleshly worship.
In a previous dream it was stated: “When you are down, don’t go down. Shout your way out and up.”
In other words, when things are not going well for you, don’t be depressed. Praise your way out and up (reaching and pleasing GOD with your praise) for His Intervention.
Always remember and do what Paul and Silas did in their harrowing critical time of utter hopelessness when they were unlawfully chained and locked up in prison. (Please study and pray with Acts 16:20-26).
Praise breaks chains. Praise opens prison doors and gets you out into VIP freedom. Hallelu-YAH!
- Speak in tongues
Being Divine Supernatural Languages, speaking in tongues literally releases The Power of GOD, not only to remove obstacles, blockages and blockades out of the way of answers to prayer, they also infuse you with Divine Strength to stay the course and run the race.
Repeatedly, I experience Divine Refreshing and have had various notable victories by speaking in tongues profusely by The Power of THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Speaking in tongues is Divine Treasure. (See 1 Corinthians 14).
Also, please see a previous Word: “Speaking In Tongues Releases The Wonderful Works of GOD With His Fire POWER!“
- Plead THE BLOOD OF JESUS!
There is Nothing more precious in GOD than His BLOOD.
Faith in THE BLOOD and pleading THE BLOOD release The Very Life of GOD, because The Life of GOD is in His BLOOD.
When you plead THE BLOOD on yourself or anyone else, The Life of GOD is released into them for strength.
Look at this Scripture:
“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed — always carrying about in the body The Dying of THE LORD JESUS, that THE LIFE OF JESUS also be manifested in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-10.
Some years ago, while meditating on this Scripture, THE HOLY SPIRIT suddenly said: “That Scripture is about The Circulation of THE BLOOD OF JESUS in the body.”
That’s exactly what the verse says, literally: “always carrying about in the body The Dying [i.e. The Crucifying, The Shedding of THE BLOOD] of THE LORD JESUS, that THE LIFE OF JESUS also be manifested in our body.”
Everyday, I pray this Scripture for me and my family, my extended family, particular brothers and sisters around the world, and all the saints, saying:
“In JESUS NAME, I command our whole spirit, soul and body: the blood vessels, all cells, all systems and all organs of the body filled with THE BLOOD OF JESUS like The Sacrificial Basins, like The Corners of The Altar — always carrying about in the body The Putting To Death of THE LORD JESUS, that The Life of JESUS also be manifested in our body.”
You can also do so. The more we pray THE BLOOD, the easier and quicker the victory for us all.
The life of the flesh is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11). The Life of JESUS in His BLOOD is released into us or any situation for victory when we use THE BLOOD.
The same happens when we take The Communion.
- Taking The Communion
The Communion is The Sharing of The Body and Blood of THE LORD.
When you take The Communion in a worthy manner, It will release Divine Strength, Divine Health and Divine Life into your whole spirit, soul and body. It’s all by Faith.
The opposite happens if you take The Communion in an unworthy manner (1 Corinthians 11:27-30).
- Wait upon THE LORD
“He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on THE LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall bear and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31.
I sometimes proclaim this Scripture for Divine Strength.
Oh, that you believe and know and experience that there is Divine POWER in praying and declaring Scriptures as led by THE HOLY SPIRIT.
A most wonderful way to be strong in our journey is by waiting on THE LORD in His Presence, in expectation of His Deliverance/ Intervention, ceaselessly looking unto JESUS The Author and Finisher of our Faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Most people in today’s world have no hope; they are fearful for various reasons. But WE have “THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, our Hope” (1 Timothy 1:1).
Therefore, rejoice and proclaim: “O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer!” (Psalm 19:14).
And His rock-solid Strength will keep you strong.
- Take pleasure in your inability/ weakness
When experiencing/ going through infirmities/ weaknesses, reproaches (insults, humiliation, shame), needs, persecutions, and distresses (difficulties) for CHRIST, one has to actually decidedly be delighted in them so as to have THE POWER OF CHRIST to flow to one/ into the situation for Divine Deliverance, yes, to overcome.
You’ll be strong physically, spiritually, health-wise, financially, in marriage, etc. as THE POWER OF CHRIST comes in for your deliverance — yes, with POWER and Great Glory.
This was how and why the ancient children of GOD “through Faith subdued kingdoms, worked Righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.” (Hebrews 11:33-34).
You have to delight in them, knowing that our temporary light affliction is working for us a far more exceeding and Eternal Weight of Glory.
And there is promotion and prosperity thereby, as was the testimonies of Daniel in the lion’s den (Daniel 6:1-28), the three Hebrew men in the burning fiery furnace (Daniel 3:1-30), and Paul and Silas in the Philippian jail (Acts 16:16-34).
You have to delight in infirmities/ weaknesses, reproaches, needs, persecutions, and distresses for CHRIST, knowing that our temporary light affliction is working for us a far more exceeding and Eternal Weight of Glory.
The sufferings for CHRIST’s Sake are five:
- infirmities/ weaknesses
- reproaches;
- needs;
- persecutions, and
- distresses.
When you take pleasure in them (by giving thanks in them, praising GOD in them, rejoicing in hope of The Glory of GOD—expecting His Intervention), Grace is released to you by JESUS to be strong. That’s why THE LORD said “My Grace is sufficient for you, for My Strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
And His Deliverance follows in short order. Hallelu-YAH!
We have to ask THE LORD for His Sufficient Grace and Perfect Strength for our endurance race.
Divine endurance training produces Divine Riches — A Far More Exceeding and Eternal Weight of Glory.
It is PRECIOUS endurance training for the battle and warfare we are in: To stand, and withstand, “To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.” (Jeremiah 1:10).
- Have angels strengthening you
Ask THE FATHER (according to Matthew 26:53) to have His angels strengthening you as they did for JESUS during His most distressing time in Gethsemane.
“Then an angel appeared to Him from Heaven, strengthening Him.” Luke 22:43.
If JESUS needed strengthening by an angel, WE do much more.
- Strengthen yourself in THE LORD, like David
When David was under attack from his own people for no wrong, only one person could encourage him in THE LORD: David.
The Amalekites had raided and burnt their stronghold and city of refuge: Ziklag, and took their wives, sons, and daughters away captive. Yet his people wanted to stone him for the great disaster that had befallen them all!
“Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in THE LORD his GOD.” 1 Samuel 30:6.
Sometimes, the only one there for you is you. You have to “be strong in THE LORD, and in The Power of His Might”, “strengthened with All Might, according to His Glorious Power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy” (Ephesians 6:10; Colossians 1:11).
- Encourage others
You are more blessed when you give to others, especially when you do so sacrificially. When you water others, you will yourself be watered by GOD and become a watered garden.
When Paul wrote some of the most powerful revelations in Scripture about our Salvation, inheritance, fighting, liberty, and so on in CHRIST, he himself was in prison! He wrote Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon from prison custody.
“I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember THE WORDS OF THE LORD JESUS, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” Acts 20:35.
Whenever led by THE HOLY SPIRIT, call, email, text a brother or a sister to check on him or her with words of encouragement and love.
Also pray for them.
“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,” Hebrews 10:24.
Some Scriptures to study and use:
“Concerning this thing I pleaded with THE LORD three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My Grace is sufficient for you, for My Strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that The Power of CHRIST may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for CHRIST’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:8-10.
“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because THE LOVE OF GOD has been poured out in our hearts by THE HOLY SPIRIT Who was given to us.” Romans 5:3-5.
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more Exceeding and Eternal Weight of Glory” 2 Corinthians 4:17.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with The Glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18.
“For as THE SUFFERINGS OF CHRIST abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through CHRIST.” 2 Corinthians 1:5.
“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done The Will of GOD, you may receive The Promise: “For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My Soul has no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.” Hebrews 10:35-39.
“My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in THE NAME OF THE LORD, as an example of suffering and patience. Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen The End Intended by THE LORD — that THE LORD is very compassionate and merciful.” James 5:10-11.
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your Faith produces patience.” James 1:2-3.
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive The Crown of Life which THE LORD has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12.
“I, John, both your brother and companion in The Tribulation and Kingdom and Patience of JESUS CHRIST, was on the island that is called Patmos for THE WORD OF GOD and for The Testimony of JESUS CHRIST.” Revelation 1:9.
“If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.” 2 Timothy 2:12.
“THE SPIRIT Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of GOD, and if children, then heirs — heirs of GOD and joint heirs with CHRIST, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” Romans 8:16-17.
“But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings: partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated; for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in Heaven. Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done The Will of GOD, you may receive the promise: “For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by Faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.” Hebrews 10:32-39.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love GOD, to those who are the called according to His Purpose.” Romans 8:28.
“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My Sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12.
“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your Faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at The Revelation of JESUS CHRIST” 1 Peter 1:6-7.
“For it is better, if it is The Will of GOD, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.” 1 Peter 3:17.
“Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of CHRIST’s Sufferings, that when His Glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for THE NAME OF CHRIST, blessed are you, for THE SPIRIT OF GLORY and of GOD rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify GOD in this matter.” 1 Peter 4:12-16.
“The LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.
“Farewell” Acts 15:29.
~ Jacob Addison Awagah
Jacob, an apostle of JESUS CHRIST by The Will of GOD, according to The Promise of Life Which is in CHRIST JESUS, (2 Timothy 1:1).
Like John, I like to put my head to The Heart of JESUS so as to know and do His Will always. What’s in His Heart is what matters now and FOREVER. His Heart’s Desire is my only desire. My will is to do His Will.
As John was, I am the disciple whom JESUS loves. And like Paul, I am “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS” (Ephesians 3:1) for His Purpose forever: to obey Him always.
NB. Surely, the disciple whom JESUS loves and “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS”, like ALL The Promises of GOD, are available to every believer to obtain, just as John and Paul did.
“And having been perfected, He [JESUS] became The Author of Eternal Salvation to all who obey Him,” Hebrews 5:9.
Grazie per questa testimonianza così simile alla sofferenza di tanti credenti. Siamo attaccati dalle tenebre che vogliono ostacolare l’opera di Dio in noi, ma noi siamo su questa terra per distruggere le opere delle tenebre.
[ HKP : “Thank you for this testimony so similar to the suffering of many believers. We are attacked by darkness that wants to hinder God’s work in us, but we are on this earth to destroy the works of darkness.” ]
