How Long does it take to Wash Clean?
In the natural it all depends on how dirty you are and what the dirt is made of. Ordinary dirt comes off much faster than, oil paint, tar or grease. But in the spiritual it does not matter how much dirt, or the type of dirt, it all washes off with the same super powerful cleaner, My blood. However the length of time it takes to remove it depends on two things; confession, and repentance! “If you confess your sins, I am faithful and just to forgive your sins, and to wash you clean, clean from all unrighteousness, no matter what it is” 1 John 1:9.
However, many believers hide their sin or justify it because they are either too proud or ashamed to confess it to Me. “Until confession takes place, they are miserable, because My Spirit will go into action and convict them until confession is made.” “When You keep silent, you feel old because your miserable all day long. Because day and night My Spirit’s conviction weighs heavy upon you: Your moisture is turned into the drought of summer. But when you confess your sin to Me, and do not hide your iniquity. I will forgive your sin immediately” Psalm 32:3-6.
Then repentance must follow conviction, in order for confession to complete its work. Changing your mind about sinning again, is a must. You cannot live in sin and expect to be forgiven, it doesn’t work that way. Confess, repent and go and sin no more! After you have done these two things, I can no longer remember your sin. However your memory is much harder to erase, because the enemy will keep reminding you of it. At this point you must exercise faith, that I did what I said I would do, Psalm 103:10-12 and submit to Me and My promise, then resist the devil’s accusations and he will flee.
Now that your soul is clean, you are free, but your memory must be erased in order for you to feel free. This is where the condemnation battle comes in. Erasing the memory is a longer process because the enemy has something to return and grab hold of, and keep refreshing it.
“Every few hours read more of My word and I will sanctify and cleanse your memory, by washing with spiritual water, that supernaturally comes from the reading of My word. By doing this I can present you as part of My glorious church, not having a spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; you and the church are made holy and without blemish” Ephesians 5:26-27
“Now you can be clean through this word, which I have spoken unto you” John 15:3.
