How important is it to Walk in the Spirit each day?
As with everyone who heard about the sad news of the shooting at the AME church in S.C., I am seriously concerned about the safety of God’s people everywhere.
It seems like no one knows what to expect day to day, in living our lives on a normal basis. The Bible tells us that in latter days things would become more evil. But how many times can we avoid being in a dangerous situation, because we are warned ahead of time by the Holy Ghost?
Luke records how God warned Joseph in a dream to go to Egypt to hide from wicked King Herod who wanted to kill the baby Jesus. Even the apostle Paul was spared being hurt or killed, because God warned him.
Some may say those situations happened because these were special people to God and we don’t have that kind of opportunity today for God to intervene like this. Well, I believe those of us today who are in an intimate relationship with God, have a blessing of protection available to us, when we spend time in prayer with Him on a regular basis.
I am not here to judge anyone who was injured in the SC shooting. I am trying to send out an alarm to cause us to become more vigilant in using what God has already given to us because of Jesus.
I can personally testify of the mercy of God that prevented me from certain death several years ago. It happened all of a sudden when God zeroed me into seeing how several people in my church were getting sick, having car accidents, and being attacked in other ways. I started praying about it and found myself in spiritual warfare to the point I strongly began to pray over my whole family.
One night, two months later, during a seemingly innocent event, I came within inches of being ran over by a car. Only by a miracle of God was I spared from death.
In Romans 8 it talks about the Spirit praying for us with groanings that cannot be uttered because the Spirit of God knows the mind of God. We cannot expect only the ministers and pastors of the churches we attend to hear from God for us. We must be able to enter into the presence of God ourselves to give the Holy Ghost free reign to move in our lives with the promises of God for us.
I heard of several testimonies of people who, for one strange reason or another, either didn’t go to work or get on a plane the day of 911. God will always move on our behalf when we learn to listen and wait on Him.
No one knows what is in store in the world each day, without giving God your heart and life to lead and guide us. When my 16 year old son was killed in a car accident, I missed knowing the nudge of the Spirit warning me not to let him have my car that night and only realized afterwards how God tried to forewarn me.
But God is a sovereign God and He is always good. Let us seek God each and every day to give the Spirit opportunity to keep us from all harm in God’s Mighty Hand.
Prayer is the only key to unlocking the mind of the Spirit.

Precious Sister
It hurts me about your son and I thanks God for the comfort He gives you, and all of us through our lives.
I also believes that , as you say, it is nessecary to listen to His Spirit from moment to moment.
He says in his Word that He will protect us on the evil day.
I think all this that happens is a ‘wake up’ call to His people to the
understanding of the seriousness in the Christian Life and the need of obedience.
There is not only ‘grace’ there are spiritual Laws to obey.
Thank you for these wonderful words.
Thank you for this confirmation. The Lord wants is to hear His voice for a reason
