How do You Guard Your Heart?
Good morning.
Is this a question you have asked many times such as I? Here is a song by Steve Green. Surely it is not just about the heart in romance areas?
It can be, but the song can also apply in every single relationship of guarding our hearts with everyone.
How is this possible to do as a Christian?
How do you guard your heart — and still at the same time not put a wall up so many of us can be guilty of with people?
We know that ‘wall’ we can erect will keep people out. That should never be our intention. That is not what The LORD meant about guarding our hearts. Still it is easy to go to that extreme if we are not very careful !!
So we must delve into this subject just a little bit. In Proverbs 4:23: it says: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
“Keep healthy boundaries” is what I am hearing The Spirit of The LORD speak.
Also, I feel I found a ‘key‘ to this subject this morning that I had never seen before.
Going further after verse 23:
“Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.” Proverbs 4:24-27
“How is that connected?” you may ask. To me these scriptures say we are to keep ‘total focus’. The Word speaks for itself and is very clear. We need to focus on The LORD above all. That is most important!
Any time a person starts to get between us putting The LORD first, we are in trouble spiritually. We are not to have any idols in our heart. As we see that person in any kind of relationship start to come first, we must stop and repent.
Jesus needs to be put back on the throne of our hearts and stay there!
This is simply said but harder to do at times. Still it is what we must do. When Jesus is first, all relationships are then in their proper perspectives.
Then and only then can the King of Glory flow out of us properly as we walk and talk daily in life with others.
This Word was published recently here on this site. I feel it ties in with the topic today. May you all be richly blessed this day.
