Holiness is….

Holiness begins with Jesus Christ. Without Him, you can do nothing.

Before a person is holy, he has to be created holy.

True holiness is…. “Jesus“. The Word says that they who have Jesus, have eternal life, and are created to do holy things.. or good works.

To the Corinthians Paul wrote: “To the Church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy,” (1 Corinthians 1:2).

The word sanctified here means “made holy.” That is, through Christ we are “made holy”. In our standing before God.

This is further explained in Ephesians 2:

“⁸ for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: ⁹ not of works, lest any man should boast.
¹⁰ for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

In verse 10 it clearly states we are his workmanship…

Created…. in Christ Jesus… unto good works“.

Without the salvation creation which is freely given as a gift from God, a man cannot be holy, but, a believer is created holy.

(No person can do good works without first being created and made holy. The reason why this is true is because, there are none righteous no not one.)

Man left on his own can never work up to becoming holy! Man is so deficient of ability to rise above his sin.

Jesus said, ye must be born again of the spirit. When a believer is born again he is created a new creature in Christ. Everyone that has received the righteousness of Christ, they are not the same because, “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come,” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The natural man has no spirit and cannot receive the things of God. (See 1 Corinthians 2:14)

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

When a person becomes born again they are made spiritual. They are given The Holy Spirit…

Note that The Spirit of God is preceded by the word… Holy. Literally, that believer is made holy in the new man or inner man.. and then he is:

At the new birth the believer is: sealed with the holy spirit . Or… Given The Holy Spirit. The believer, who is born again…. Is holy because God is Holy. And He lives inside each believer!

See… Ephesians 1:13-14 “in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”

Every born again person then is given the inheritance of… The Holy Spirit… which is sealed up in them… [note this] until the redemption of the purchased possession into the praise of His Glory!

In conclusion:

When the Bible says “Without holiness no man shall see The LORD,” it does not mean that a person must work up holiness to get saved…. No!

But it does mean that men with The Holy Spirit will see The LORD.

There are many people today who are working so hard to be holy, when we know from the Word of God that a unregenerate man cannot be holy within himself!

Yet many insist that the above verse saying, “without holiness, no man will see The LORD” means that in order to be saved … a man must work to be holy. They work and work and work, but their work is still not holy.

They missed it… they do not know the truth!

Truth is they who are working to be holy/ saved…. are the very ones who will be lost for eternity and in hell! Jesus is the only way any man will be saved. Period!

These people work all their lives striving to be holy, when holiness begins or is given to each believer at the new birth. So they waste their time trying to be holy.

Now, we understand that a saved person who is created into a new creature, because he has the holy spirit living inside……………. will live holy. The good works then can happen after they are created holy.

We who are born of The Spirit can do good works, but not to be saved… but… because we are saved!!
