His Words of Warning and Awakening
2 Words in 1
The Hands of the Carpenter
“Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judah and Simon?” Mark 6:3.
Is not this the carpenter?
When Jesus started His ministry, it was difficult for anyone to see Him as anything else, but the carpenter.
However He spent His earthly years and will for the rest of eternity be in the business of fixing and building up the broken.
He will not detour around the demolition of your heart, but He goes right through the middle of it. He inspects the damage of where you tried to fix it yourself.
He then begins to build up making an even stronger foundation than before.
The touch of the Master Carpenter changes everything!
The hands that crafted so delicately wood, can reach into the spirit of a man and melt every fear.
With his hands, He blessed a boys lunch to feed a multitude. When Peter was sinking in the darkness of the Galilee sea, it was those hands that reached down and pulled him back up to the surface.
It was those hands that picked up a handful of soil making a paste to restore sight to a blind man. A woman following the casket of her only son stricken by grief saw those hands of the Carpenter touch the casket and her son come alive.
Death cannot resist the life in those hands!
Those hands reconnected a severed ear of a bewildered priest. Those hands took up the water and towels to wash His disciples feet. Those hands took up a whip to drive the money changers out that attempted to defile the House of God.
It would also be the hands that Roman soldiers would drive nails through.
Authority, power, life and hope are in His hands.
Every detail down to the last nail is accounted for and in its proper place. Heart shattered lives don’t for a moment escape God’s notice.
Like wood in the hands of the Master Carpenter, He is taking your life and making something glorious out of it. The hand of God is upon you.
“Is not this The Carpenter?” they say. Oh He is so much more!
His Words of Warning and Awakening
If a city is not ready, then the alarm must sound.
If a house is not ready, then the house must be moved to a stronger foundation.
The words of warning that John the Baptist spoke to the crowd:
“Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, we have Abraham to our father, for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire,” Luke 3:7-9.
The words that Jesus spoke to the teachers of the law:
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity,” Matthew 23:27-28.
The mandate that Paul writes to Timothy:
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables,” 2 Timothy 4:2-4.
The words of awakening that John wrote down in the Book of Revelation:
“And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee,” Revelation 3:1-3.
To wake someone up in the middle of the night is the right thing to do, even if the rude awakening upsets the one who is sleeping.
