People of God, many look on the 5-Fold ministries as great gift offices, but I believe that one of the greatest gifts to me in the Bible, besides desiring the Gift of Prophecy, is the “Gift of Helps.”

I believe that the word translated “helps” means literally “to relieve, offer one’s resources; time, land, money, ideas, inventions, succor, participate in, and/or to show support of others in the Kingdom of God.

The LORD’s people have a generous and giving heart even though their are some wolves in sheep clothing out to take advantage of those with the gift of helps.

We, as the people of God, can never become so prideful that we forget that the poor will always be with us!

We are called to service the needs of the people; even the homeless and the less fortunate than ourselves!

The LORD began to bring to my mind regarding the pettiness, small-mindedness and spitefulness of Edom regarding their brothers who desired to cross their land to get to their God-given destiny.

You see, this division caused the Edomites to forbid Israel to cross their land during the Israelites’ Exodus from Egypt and Edom’s sins of pride then required a strong word of judgment from the LORD.

The LORD said, “Listen to this, Edom: I’m turning you to a no-account, the runt of the godless nations, despised. You thought you were so great, perched high among the rocks, king of the mountain, thinking to yourself, ‘Nobody can get to me! Nobody can touch me!’ Think again. Even if, like an eagle, you hang out on a high cliff-face, even if you build your nest in the stars, I’ll bring you down to earth.”

God’s sure Word, (Obadiah 1:2-4 MSG)

Oh yes, an eagle can fly high and soar ever so greatly, but I don’t care how high she flies, eventually she must come down, because that is the nature of the eagle, that God himself designed to fly high and to soar down low to catch her prey!

The LORD becomes angry when we forget about those that are less fortunate than we are, and we shrug up our noses in the air as though to say we are better than everyone else!

Edom saw there brother in need and refused to help them to cross over to their promise land. In fact,

God let them know right off the bat, “For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head,” Obadiah 1:15 KJV.

God always has a ram in the Bush for his own! While Jezebel was killing off the LORD’s prophets, Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets and hidden them in two caves, fifty in each, and had supplied them with food and water, (1 Kings 18:4).

I believe Obadiah was activated in the Gift of Helps, to become a resource and an escape for God’s people!

He had to have had not only the Gift of Faith working here, but the Spirits of Mercy, Compassion and Love to carry out such an unselfish act of kindness for God’s people, when Jezebel was intimidating and murdering God’s anointed vessels!

And, not only did he demonstrate those attributes but he was even a man of great courage to offer himself as a instrument of God in this time period and dispensation of time! When fear was on every side.

For in this season, I believe that God is going to activate this particular gift to catapult the Body of Christ into a new place in reaching those who are in need of His Resources in this season!

Not to become selfish and stingy in what they have, but in utilizing these God given resources to build up the Kingdom of God and His work in this season; unlike Edom!

Obadiah’s message is final and it is sure: the kingdom of Edom will be destroyed completely.

Edom had been arrogant, gloating over Israel’s misfortunes, and when enemy armies attack Israel and the Israelites ask for help, the Edomites refuse and choose to fight against them, (people the enemy will use those that are suppose to be in the spiritual family; even natural family to fight against you in the midst of your misfortunes instead of supporting you) not for them.

These sins of pride can be overlooked no longer.

I believe that God is saying, to fret not thy self because of the evil doer. And do not be envious of the wicked.

For they shall soon be cut down and withered as the grass!

For, God’s promises are sure and his fulfillment and deliverance of Zion in the Last Days also sure when the land will be restored to God’s people as He rules over them.

Resources are going to be divinely made available for the righteous!
