Hebrides Desperation Remembered
The Hebrides Desperation Remembered and brought into today’s Church.
“LORD God, you have promised to water our dry land! Lord, we need you to water our land.
Fulfill your promise LORD. Your reputation is at stake, LORD!
Send your water to our parched land, we pray for Jesus’ sake!”
This brave prayer, (as best I can remember), was the desperate cry of the village blacksmith who helped to start The Hebridean Revival.
Two old ladies, Peggy and Christine Smith, both in their 80’s, had been praying for years but this was prayed on the night Duncan Campbell arrived on the Isle of Lewis for an engagement.
This was the Prayer that brought heaven down and helped begin the Revival.
The desperate prayer of a hungry and thirsty people!
TODAY – Where is our desperation?
I hear The LORD saying, “I hear your prayers — but I don’t hear your desperation.
I hear your words — but I don’t see your heart fully reflect those words.
I see your hearts — but there is a some fear there — fear of the commitment, fear of the disruption, but most of all, fear of what men might say!
Repent now for your lack of total commitment!
Repent now for the hollowness of your words.
Repent now of bowing to man’s opinion!
Repent and turn from these things — and then pray with a blacksmiths wholehearted desperation — then I will see your heart.
Then I will hear your prayer.
Then I will answer with the rain, wind, and fire of My Holy Spirit.
THEN I WILL SEND REVIVAL!” says The LORD.
With everything that’s happening in the world right now, I have no sense of desperation in the average Church.
There is no urgency.
I’m urging once again for the Spirit of God to Urgently grip God’s Remnant, awake, people.
For us to be shaken from our apathy, our lethargy, our lukewarmness, into a crying out people desperate for the promised move of God to sweep through their church, their town or city, their country.
For a Remnant people just desperate for the Presence of God — who will not accept anything less!
In personal desperation, hope, and fervent prayer.
~ Chris G. Bennett
Chris Bennett came to salvation in 1962 but didn’t begin ministry until 2007 — a late-comer! Now mandated by The LORD to prophesy and open old wells of revival in the U.K., but especially in Wales. He has also operated Healing Rooms, and worked with deliverance teams, all with his wife, Linda. Happily now doing whatever The LORD asks of them! Founder, with wife Linda, of their ministry The Upper Room Encounter.
I agree as well! So many churches have lost their way. Even the majority of my family say – “Jesus is returning any moment, there is nothing we can do.” So they are literally sitting and waiting… many believe all of this HAS to happen so Jesus WILL return, and so they are not standing up because they just want Jesus to come back. It’s SO frustrating!! I continue to pray as Chris says – that the church is shaken from our apathy, our lethargy, our lukewarmness, into a crying out people desperate for the promised move of God
Yes Lord .
For us to be shaken from our apathy, our lethargy, our lukewarmness, into a crying out people desperate for the promised move of God to sweep through their church, their town or city, their country.
Amen.
I agree I see no desperate cry to God here in Louisiana it like they are content. Me I want more
