Prayer is a very Spiritual practice which God has given to us to enable us to navigate successfully through this life. Of all the gifts from God, the gift of prayer itself is most wonderful of all. Prayer is speaking into the Spirit World and connecting with the Father God to receive help and understanding that is desperately needed to walk through all the trials and temptations of this life and to even know what it is that God wants from us as Servants. Prayer is literally the KEY to unlock the door of every need in the Christian Life and is the VITAL CONNECT with the Father God most essential to life.

Without prayer there would not be any victory or even clarity. Prayer is the FIRST AND FOREMOST GIFT OF ALL GIFTS. It is our very first act of Worship to God with any real meaning. In the Scripture it tells us that Prayer is most important:

ROMANS 10:13 “For whosoever shall CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD shall be… SAVED.”

The first and most important teaching here is that when one prays he INVOKES GOD or MOVES GOD to SAVE HIM from WHATEVER TROUBLE OR NEED HE MIGHT HAVE. In the Greek the word used and translated “SAVED” is Sozo. This word literally means to deliver or protect, heal or preserve, and carries the meaning to DO WELL AND TO MAKE WHOLE. As you can readily see this act of prayer is MOST VITAL when it comes to DELIVERANCE; not only in salvation from sin itself and a future with God but as pertaining to Healing and even deliverance from sickness or the work of the enemy who has come to Kill, Steal, and Destroy. PRAYER is the SUPERNATURAL MEANS PROVIDED BY GOD to bring men to a SPIRITUAL LIFE.

Prayer itself than is understood as being the single most important thing any man or woman can do, not only to be Born Again and Saved: becoming a Child of the Living God, but to aid him in Worship of that great God. It is in Prayer that all who Know God will and do WORSHIP GOD. When men do LIFT THEIR VOICE AND HEART…. CRYING OUT TO GOD…. THIS IS PRAYER. God is a Spirit and all who worship him must enter into the SPIRITUAL REALM WHERE GOD DWELLS and approach Him IN THE SPIRIT. God did make or create man ABOVE THE ANIMALS, giving them A SPIRIT whereby they can TALK WITH GOD.

Jesus told the woman of Samaria that she did not understand how to really approach God and to even worship God He told her that he would show her how….

JOHN 4:21-24 “Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when THE TRUE WORSHIPPERS shall worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
GOD IS A SPIRIT: and they that worship him MUST WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT and in Truth.”

I do point out again to you, IN ORDER TO EVEN TALK WITH GOD one must BE IN THE SPIRIT. Because God himself is A SPIRIT all who approach him must approach him IN SPIRIT. Of course there is the ADDED QUALIFICATION by Jesus about IN TRUTH. God will accept those who come to him IN TRUTH and will be honest and straight with Him and be NO LIAR. When a person approaches God with hidden sin or motives this is the first thing God (who knows all things about man) will see. You will hear him say, What is that behind your back? What is that you are not telling me in truth or you are trying to hide from Me? God sees and knows all men and will require Truth. So the very basic reasons and way to approach God are IN SPIRIT (the supernatural spirit realm) and IN TRUTH. True prayer in Spirit and Truth will be MARKED BY A SPIRIT OF REPENTANCE for any sin that or failure as one approaches to the Lord. When anyone prays in such a heart and mind, SPIRITUALLY MOVED IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH… GOD IS MOVED AND WILL EXTEND GRACE AND MERCY TO HELP.

I believe all will readily agree than that Prayer is SPIRITUAL, and he who prays must LEAVE THE FLESH REALM to engage in prayer. Thus SPIRITUAL PRAYER is MOST HEAVENLY. In prayer men walk in the Heavenly Realm, they LITERALLY WALK WITH GOD AND TALK WITH GOD.

But, the Flesh does hinder man in so many ways to even pray. I used to have a picture that hung on the wall that said… IF YOU ARE TOO BUSY TO PRAY… YOUR TOO… BUSY!!! Well literally this is true, yet many times all men have a struggle going on past the Flesh and entering into prayer. When Jesus was on this earth AS A MAN, he went into the garden to pray the night before he was betrayed and was crucified. The Scripture says that Jesus TOOK HIS CLOSEST DISCIPLES with him to HELP HIM AND TO PRAY WITH HIM. He did than GO A LITTLE FURTHER and than FELL DOWN UPON THE GROUND AND PRAYED. Jesus prayed so hard that HE DID SWEAT GREAT DROPS OF BLOOD. He cried out to his Father, Father take this cup from me. He did admit that his flesh did not want to die. But we thankfully read that Jesus did finally say… NEVERTHELESS THY WILL BE DONE!!! Praise God! are we not Glad that Jesus said that… THY WILL BE DONE!

Jesus came to do the Will of his Father. It was his most important mission of all: TO DO HIS FATHERS WILL. It was not about Him but about what His Father did want. Jesus had to die in the Flesh to please his Father and to accomplish the Fathers’ Will. So even today, we must die to the Flesh and when we do we will ENTERTAIN GODS’ FAVOR. Prayer is dying to self and calling for help… Hear the Cry…. FATHER FORGIVE ME FOR I HAVE SINNED AND I NEED HELP!! This cry will GET GODS’ ATTENTION AND HE WILL COME TO SAVE…. ANYONE AND ALL…. WHO WILL CALL OUT. Yet how many times do we actually enter into this realm and cry out? Why is it so difficult to just pray? Many times we will finally realize that we have not prayed; repenting than we turn and pray. When we did pray, Jesus Answered. It is prayer that holds the Key to victory!

WHEN WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO PRAY FOR…. THE LORD MAKES A WAY…!!!

Than it is so many times we DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT TO PRAY FOR. We all face things that we do not fully understand and when we do we need help to even pray. Not only do men many times NOT KNOW HOW TO PRAY… but they do NOT EVEN FEEL LIKE PRAYING. If they would be truthful they have NO DESIRE TO PRAY. How do we pray and agree with the Father God, if we do not even understand His Will? The will of God must be foremost when we pray. Remember it was Jesus who prayed, Father, thy Will be done, not my will, but your will. We need to know God’s will in order to even ask, yet, so many times we do come up short in understanding as to how to even ask God. IS IT STRANGE THAN THAT THE LORD DOES HAVE TO HELP US KNOW HIS WILL SO WE CAN PRAY EFFECTIVELY? Well I want to tell you this is most wonderful to know and understand GOD HAS NOT LEFT US WITHOUT HELP to know his Will. The very Way that the Lord has helped us is HE HIMSELF WILL PRAY FOR US. Yes, I said, HE WILL PRAY FOR US, helping us to pray IN HIS WILL. I want to say that the following verses do explain this:

ROMANS 8:26-27 “Likewise the Spirit also HELPETH OUR INFIRMITIES: for we KNOW NOT WHAT WE SHOULD PRAY FOR as we ought: but THE SPIRIT ITSELF MAKETH INTERCESSION FOR US with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF GOD.”

What a blessed and most wonderful teaching here, God will BY HIS SPIRIT… PRAY FOR US and when He does Pray for us, He does KNOW FOR SURE what the WILL OF THE FATHER IS, therefore He can PRAY THE PERFECT PRAYER FOR THE SAINTS. Oh How wonderful!!!! God will help us PRAY THE WILL OF GOD.

HOW HAS GOD HELPED US TO KNOW HIS WILL AND TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO PRAY AND LIVE?

FIRST we do know that God has enlightened all who have come to him by giving all is indwelling Spirit. Without this INDWELLING SPIRIT of the Living God none can even understand God at all. God has moved in his great love for lost man by GIVING HIS SPIRIT to call them and awaken them from their dead state, the very state that Adam and Eve led all men into when they caused all men to become Sinners. God has so wonderfully SENT HIS HOLY SPIRIT to call men and to AWAKEN MEN to understanding. Jesus said it this way, Except a man be Born Again of the Spirit he can not understand the Kingdom of God. (John 3:1-12) Jesus told Nicodemus (a religious man who was not spiritual) that he would have to be BORN AGAIN of the Spirit and that being a flesh man was not enough (having only one birth, the birth into the flesh from his mother). Jesus told him he must become SPIRITUALLY ALIVE to understand the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

SECOND we do know that God has SENT HIS WORD to men to reveal the TRUTH of the WILL OF GOD. The Word (his Holy Bible) does contain and speak of God and Gods will for all men. In this way God has moved men to understand him and know his will for them. Yet, again to read the Scriptures themselves man MUST BE SPIRITUAL. In other words the Bible Scriptures MUST BE REVEALED TO MEN BY THE HOLY SPIRIT. Just to take up the reading of the Bible is not enough, but one must be EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT TO SEE AND UNDERSTAND ITS MEANING. So God has given man a clear teaching (words written down for them to read) on how to even know God and understand him or his will for man.

THIRD we do know and understand that God has given SPECIAL GIFTS TO MAN which will enable men to LIVE ACCORDING TO HIS WILL AND PURPOSE. It is a very clear fact in Scriptures that God has not only sent his Holy Spirit to draw men to salvation but he has given man his Word to know and understand, but now we understand God has GIVEN GIFTS TO MEN. These Gifts do come in categories. The Five fold Ministry gifts are the Gifts of Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Teachers, and Evangelist. God did call man spiritual men and Gifted them to preach and teach men till they came to understand and grow up into the fullness of his very nature. God did a great work when He sent the Ministry Gifts. Without the obedience and calling of the Ministry Gifts, men would be without a witness; but God has provided a Burning Light through his Gifted Men who are moved in the Holy Ghost to preach and teach. This gift to the world is most powerful. But, the gifting does not stop there.

FOURTH we know that God did give GIFTS OF HIS SPIRIT which are talked about in detail in 1 Corinthians 12-13, and 14. When you read these chapters and all the verses you will understand that God has given HIS SPIRITUAL GIFTS to men to help them live and move in victory and to enable them to be witnesses to other men, helping others find the truth and salvation.

After Jesus did die for the sins of the world and brought to man his Spirit Comforter which would be with men (those who would received Him and be saved), than Jesus told his disciples to WAIT IN JERUSALEM for EVEN MORE. Jesus said they would RECEIVE POWER GIFTS. He was adamant about it demanding and commanding them TO NOT LEAVE JERUSALEM UNTIL THEY WERE RECIPIENTS OF THIS POWER. We should be careful to read the account of the Day of Pentecost, not leaving out anything or discounting any teaching found there because of the great importance and necessity of receiving POWER to be effective witnesses. It therefore becomes INCREASINGLY IMPORTANT TO KNOW that THE FIRST GIFT OF THE SPIRIT was given to HELP MEN PRAY. That is right, to PRAY …. OR WORSHIP GOD IN THE SPIRIT. What was that Gift which was FIRST EVIDENCED at Pentecost? Was it not TALKING IN UNKNOWN TONGUES? The early Church had ALREADY RECEIVED the Indwelling of the Holy Comforter, yet the Scriptures say they did received more Gifts…. on the Day of Pentecost. This SPECIAL POWER GIFTING DID MANIFEST ITSELF IN… TALKING IN TONGUES AND PROPHESYING.

WHY TONGUES FIRST?

The fact is GOD WANTED MEN TO BE HELPED IN THE AREA OF PRAYER. It was NOT because men were totally NONSPIRITUAL because they could pray and be saved and delivered, but God wanted to send MORE HELP TO PRAY and in this praying man could PRAY IN POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT THE PERFECT PRAYER which would lead them into the Greater Works. The Early church did begin at Pentecost to fully move in the SPIRITUAL GIFTS which did enable and enhance their lives so drastically that they did go out and turn the world upside down, bring thousands and thousands into the Kingdom. The example of the early churches’ power is still with us today written down in the Book of Acts. Up till the day of Pentecost the early church huddled in upper rooms and underground fearing for their life; AFTER PENTECOST THE EARLY CHURCH BECAME A MOVING AND SHAKING FORCE WHICH CHANGED THE COURSE OF THE ENTIRE WORLD. Maybe what is wrong with the church TODAY.. IS… THEY ARE NO LONGER MOVING AND SHAKING IN THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT????

IT SHOULD NOT BE STRANGE OR HARD TO UNDERSTAND that God has GIVEN A VERY GOOD WAY TO PRAY which man without this gift could deeply miss the ability to fully pray GOD’S WILL? The gift of praying in the Spirit the Tongues does add to and enhance the Spiritual nature of man to the place that man can MOVE AND WORK IN THE …. PERFECT WILL OF GOD. But this work must be done COMPLETELY BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO ALONE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT THE WILL OF THE FATHER IS. The scripture above says that THE SPIRIT OF GOD does SEARCH THE HEART of man and HE KNOWS WHAT IS OF THE FATHER AS PERTAINING TO HIS PERFECT WILL. Many who have been led to believe that this Gift of Speaking in or praying in unknown tones are not helping or necessary have missed this great truth and fallen short in all that God has provided for them as his Children. Whole denominations are led astray on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. They do not even believe in the Gift of Tongues much less many of the other 8 gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12. The Power of the Holy Spirit Gifts are shoved off into the back room of the church hoping that somehow men will not be offended and confused. The devil has caused so much disturbance in the area of the Gifts of Tongues and moving in the other gifts of the Holy Spirit that many have just tried to avoid the teaching all together. Many preachers have seen it as an ISSUE THAT DIVIDES rather than A POWER TO CHANGE THE WORLD. No wonder the modern Church is dead and sleeping. THE GIFTS ARE NO LONGER NEEDED TO MANY OR RELEVANT.

THE GREAT IMPORTANCE OF… TALKING IN TONGUES

Paul did explain, under the power of the Holy Spirit, that TALKING IN TONGUES WOULD BUILD UP AND EDIFY THE BELIEVER. He liked it to CHARGING. I mentioned before the charging of a dead battery on a car… IT WOULD NEED TO BE CHARGED. The powerless christian needs to be CHARGED. He needs to STIR UP THE GIFT OF TONGUES and in doing so, HE WILL BE SENT OUT A RED HOT BURNING OF THE HOLY GHOST TO BURN BEFORE A COLD AND INDIFFERENT WORLD CAUSING MEN TO BE MOVED IN FEAR AND CONVICTION. The day of the Early Church is NO MORE because now the Church is NOT GOING OR EVEN CONVERTING THE WORLD. The Church sits lifeless in the padded pews of a comfortable Building intertaining the thoughts of SEEKER FRIENDLY NOTIONS. I say were are the BURNING HOLY GHOST, TONGUE SPEAKING, FIRE BREATHING PREACHERS SUCH AS PETER? WHERE ARE THE PREACHERS WHO DID MOVE AND SHAKE FOR GOD? Where are the many MIRACLES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, SIGNS AND WONDERS? WHERE IS THE LORD GOD OF MIRACLES IN TODAY’S DEAD CHURCH???

The Gift of Tongues is the GIFT OF REVELATION to KNOW THE MIND OF GOD AND TO PRAY THE PERFECT AND COMPLETE WILL OF GOD OVER YOUR SELF. Paul said that when one prayed he was EDIFIED. HE WAS SUPERNATURALLY HELPED TO KNOW THE WILL OF GOD…. AND TO EVEN KNOW TO PRAY FOR THAT WHICH HE DID NOT EVEN KNOW. On the Day of Pentecost, IF YOU COULD INTERVIEW ALL THE PARTICIPANTS, I believe above all PETER WOULD BE MOST ASTONISHED. He would tell you on that day he FULLY SAW AND PREACHED THE WILL OF GOD. He stood that day and FORGOT ALL HE KNEW ABOUT WAS…. FISHING. HE HEARD AND KNEW THE WILL OF GOD… SUPERNATURALLY AS THE HOLY GHOST DID PRAY FOR HIM. HE KNEW THE MESSAGE BECAUSE IT CAME DROPPING INTO HIS SPIRIT FROM HEAVEN. HEAVEN CAME DOWN AND KISSED HIM AND HE MOVED AND SHOOK IN THE POWER OF THE KNOWN WILL OF GOD!! Yes on that day PETER WAS ENDUED WITH KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING AND HE STOOD AND PROCLAIMED THE WORD OF GOD.. Three Thousand hard Jewish Men, the same men who had SAID NO TO JESUS AND CRUCIFIED HIM…. WERE GLORIOUSLY SAVED!!

Many read these accounts in the Scripture than turn and say, OH THAT WAS IN THE EARLY CHURCH!! They even talk about the Baptism with the Holy Spirit as if they believed in it, but DO NOT PREACH IT,, OR TALK ANY LONGER IN THE TONGUES, and do not have the other gifts in force.

Tongues were given FIRST on the Day of Pentecost to FULLY EXPLAIN to the early Church HOW TO PRAY and what happened when the prayed. Praying in the Tongues did FULLY PUT THE HOLY GHOST ON THE SPOT. THE HOLY GHOST DID PRAY FOR THEM AND THROUGH THESE MEN AND WOMEN AS THY STOOD THAT DAY. THEY DID PRAY A PERFECT, POWERFUL, LIFE CHANGING AND REVEALING PRAYER SUCH AS THEY COULD NEVER PRAY BEFORE. What part of this story do we not understand? Why do men not understand how to proceed from here? Why are they defeated by the enemy and their church and personal lives are defeated? Is it not that they do NOT KNOW HOW TO PRAY? Why??? In the Name of Heaven, do men think that the Scripture truth of TALKING IN TONGUES is NOT VALUABLE TODAY or will no longer work?

Men have become too smart to PRAY IN TONGUES. The do not need God to have Church these days. This is why the church and Christians are wondering around like a Chicken with his head cut off… helpless to help the sick and fallen. Helpless to understand the answers of what to do to lift a fallen world. The GIFT OF TONGUES WAS GOD’S POWERING THROUGH GREAT PRAYING TO REVEAL THE UNDERSTANDING OF GOD’S PERFECT WILL. IT WAS GOD MOVING IN THEM AND TURNING THEM INTO A BURNING FLAME OF FIRE BECAUSE THEY BEGIN TO MOVE IN GOD’S PERFECT POWER AND WILL!! IT ENABLED IGNORANT FISHERMEN TO PREACH AND TURNED HARDENED SINNERS INTO SAINTS. IT CHANGED THE DULLNESS OF MEN INTO EXCITEMENT AND CHARGED ALL WHO WERE LISTENING WITH DESIRE TO REPENT TO RECEIVE EXACTLY WHAT THEY HAD. IT WAS THE POWER OF THE HOLY WILL OF GOD REVEALED. MYSTERIES EXPLAINED. GLORY OF HEAVEN ON EARTH.. AS GOD KISSED MEN.

Tongues are the LANGUAGES OF HEAVEN moving Heaven to REVELATION KNOWLEDGE to earthly men. The Gift LIFTED MEN to TALK AND PRAY IN THE VERY LANGUAGE OF HEAVEN and to AGREE WITH GOD’S PERFECT WILL FOR THEIR LIFE.

 

CONCLUSION:

If I were the devil I certainly would convince all, causing all the confusion I could possibly cause over tongues, and in doing so, I would STOP THE EFFECTIVENESS AND GROWTH OF THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD. I would tell them that anyone speaking in such a language was totally possessed with evil, and turn all men away from this gift. I would hold back no amount of condemnation I could bring upon those who did speak in tongues, to cause the others to think wrong about them and to GO WRONG. I would muddy the water on purpose because…. I knew that in speaking in tongues men were….

PRAYING A PERFECT PRAYER AND POWER TO DESTROY ME AND ALL MY KINGDOM AND WORK. Yes, If I were the devil, I WOULD DESTROY THE GIFT OF TONGUES. I would do it or be defeated totally.
