Psalm 29 was inspired by a thunderstorm David observed — or should I say, felt?

David sees and hears the beginning of this storm and says, “The voice of The LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, The LORD thunders over the mighty waters”

The thunder booming over the sea and echoing with fierce reverberations through the forests and deserts is none other than “the voice of The LORD.”

In this storm we see the power, strength, majesty and glory of God. This is seen as “the voice of The LORD” breaks the cedars, twists the oaks, strips the forests bare, causes the mountains to skip like frightened cattle, and shakes the Desert of Kadesh.

The sturdy cedars of Lebanon and the immovable mountains were symbols of strength and stability, but the thunderous voice of The LORD, accompanied by flashes of lightning, is no match for these “symbols of strength.”

If the Almighty merely, “lifts His voice, the earth melts”

That is the power of the God you serve. The mountains may seem immovable to you, but one word from The LORD and they will move.

His voice will break those strongholds, twist those chains to break, strip the enemy of his tactics and cause him to flee, and he will shake the very foundations beneath you to come and meet you right where you are with exactly what you need.

This storm shows the limitless power and majesty that we are plugged into. Keep your faith for God is in the storm and His voice is getting ready to thunder with great majesty and breakthrough power.

The winds and tempest exercise our faith and beneath the black wing of tempest, by the glare of the lightning that marches to the tune of thunderbolts.

God is everywhere, and all the earth is hushed by the majesty of His presence.

When you hear the sound of thunder, remember this I hear The LORD say, “Change happens when you least expect it!”
