God’s written Word is powerful!
God’s written word is powerful. It is ALIVE. What was written thousands of years ago applies just as much today. This is the way of spiritual matters. This is the way of a God who lives in Spirit and in truth.
Whether it be yesterday, today or tomorrow, He remains unchanged. The Psalmist knew what it was to be intimate with the LORD. He knew what it was to be connected to Him. He knew what it was to rely totally upon Him. The truth is that we are all reliant upon God. We all need Him and yet only some of us will acknowledge this dependency. Only some of us will allow Him to feed the deep needs of our souls. This is our daily bread and physical sustenance simply cannot fill this void.
LORD, we come to You hungry and thirsty. We come to You with praises on our lips and thanksgiving in our hearts. We boast not of ourselves but of You, O LORD.
We lift Your name on high! We were in our pits doomed to captivity and condemnation. We cried out and You answered us. You delivered us. You pulled us from the muck and the mire. You lifted us out of the pit and set our feet upon the rock of Your salvation! A
s we acknowledge our previous predicament, we know that all praises are due You. As we look to the future before us, we know that this rock is where we shall remain.
LORD, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus. We thank You for His deep love, His compassion and His obedience to You.
We thank You for His sacrifice made on our behalf. We have earned poverty, disease and famine but have received riches, health and abundance. We have earned death but received life everlasting!
These gifts are evidence of Your grace extended to us and lived through us. Help us to always remember the price that was paid on our behalf; the means by which we have come to be known as the sons and daughters of the One True God.
Thank You for the cross.
