God Is Threshing His People!
3 Words in 1
We Have a Charge to Keep and a God to Please!
But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; that thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, (1 Timothy 6:6-14 KJV).
Apostles and Prophets Are Not Afraid to Confront Sin: Even When It Is One of There Own in the Wrong
And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: to whom we gave place by subjection, (accountability and responsibility) no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him (confronted) to the face, because he was to be blamed.
For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away (compromise) with their dissimulation.
But when I saw that they walked NOT uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, (open rebuke) If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? (Galatians 2:4-5,7,11-14 KJV)
God Is Threshing His People!
To thresh means to separate, trample, trodden or to remove the good from the bad.
In this threshing he is doing a separation from that which is pure and that which is impure!
I believe that this is a process that is going to take His People into the greater!
John the Baptist gives a great scenario of the threshing floor when he speaks about the coming Messiah who would separate the true believers from the false.
The true followers of Christ will be gathered into the Kingdom of God just as grain is gathered into barns, while those who reject Christ (His Word) will be burned up “with unquenchable fire,” just as the worthless chaff is burned (Matthew 3:12).
In the Old Testament there was no machinery like we have today, so after the harvest, the grain was separated from the straw and husks by beating it manually.
First, there had to be a flat surface that was smooth and hard, and this was known as the threshing floor.
The process of threshing was performed generally by spreading the sheaves on the threshing floor and causing oxen and cattle to tread repeatedly over them, loosening the edible part of cereal grain (wheat ) from the scaly, inedible chaff that surrounded it (Deuteronomy 25:4; Isaiah 28:28)
Many of us do not want God to gut out that which is not edible but we choose to hold on to it because it brings us comfort and pleasure to the flesh but in this season if you want God to place his seal of approval upon your life you are going to have to humbly submit to the threshing!
Oh, I know it gets hard when God is allowing stretching you and allowing others to walk on you and to mold you through words of discomfort but don’t run from it but embrace it!
For God is not doing it to break you, but to cause that which is productive to come out of you!
I can remember people doing things to me and God telling me to hold my peace and it seemed as though I was being mistreated, but in the end, God caused me to rise above the persecution dealing with my enemies!
Just as he did Abraham when Abimelech took Sarah.
But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.
But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine (Genesis 20:2-7).
Sometimes you can have good intentions and still be wrong, but the threshing floor will beat all of that out of you in order to bring forth the gold in you!
