Onions
God spoke to me in prayer this evening the word “onion!” God showed me that onions are used for many good reasons both in and out of the kitchen, and that they have a variety of layers to them when they are peeled! The sad thing about the onion is that when it is peeled or sliced it is known to bring both joy and tears to the eyes who is peeling it; although, it is good to eat!
Another very important quality about the onion is that it is used to season ones food and the person that eats them are happy because the onion bring about an enormous flavor to the one who the food is prepared for when it used for sauteing!!
God begin to show me that whenever He gives us a revelation, that revelation is like an onion it can have many uses for the one using it, it can be used for many good seasons during the year, the taste of the onion is filled with a variety of flavors (sweet/bitter), it will unfold and enlighten (mysteries) ones heart and mind to greater insight and meaning in ones spiritual life and walk with the Lord!
Like the onion, the Word of God will bring both tears and joy to the heart of the reader. And it is like the onion in the sense that the more one peels the layers of this onion, the more flavor one will experience, as one slices and peels through the deep layers of the onion. And this is why God said for you to study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). Because, when God gives a word of prophecy, a word of wisdom, word of knowledge, and etc., it should be weighed and measured against the word of God to determine it’s validity!
For example, Queen Esther was challenged prophetically; her own destiny and her privilege of bridal intimacy for the purpose of interceding for the salvation of her people, did not come all at once, but it was a process (Esther 4:14; Romans 11:11-15), and had she given up, she would have never reached her divine destiny and her people saved from the fate of wicked Haman!
I hear God saying so it is with His people! When God gives you a word of knowledge, a word of prophecy etc., it takes time for that word to come into fruition! The seed has been planted, and you will need to be patient like Queen Esther in order to see it come to pass! I hear God saying that it is only when we are peeling the layers of an onion that we realize what delicious benefits it will bring to the person it is prepared for, and that is how both the Word of God and the word of prophecy are!
The benefits of that prophecy will come into fruition, but we must wait with tears, joy, and patience to reap the flavor of that revelation in both our natural and spiritual lives! What is God saying? He is saying, “… let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:9).
Like Esther, we must be determined and learn how to persevere in this season! Esther was traumatized by the calling upon her life. She risked her life with prayer/intercession for the Jewish people and she decided to accept her prophetic destiny through her beauty, grace, prayer, and fasting and so must you, if you want to receive the blessings that God is to bestow upon us in this season!
I hear God saying that we must be like Esther who said, “Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:16) If you want the blessings of God, He is saying it will cost you something, and it will not be easy in this season, for just as the wicked Haman tried to stop the Jews, so will the enemy try to stop you from reaching your prophetic destiny in Christ!
God is saying that it is time for you to make up in your minds that like the onion that has many layers; you will have to dig deep and get in the Word of God and dig deep behind the layers to see what God has in store for you in this season!
God is saying that all that will make up in there minds to peel through the heart aches and pains, the Word of God and the revelations given to them will reap the benefits of there labor like Esther did!
But there is both a process and price to pay! But in order to reap the harvest, we must realize that as we go through there will be both joy and the tears of the revelations and words that He has sent in our lives. By acting upon them and being obedient to the plan that God has for us, we will taste the goodness and flavor of the onion (revelations/words) in our lives!
Are you willing to go through the layers to find the hidden treasures that God has for you or will you continue to stay on the outside of the onion and the edge of the onion (revelations / word of god) never knowing what God has prepared for those who love him and are willing to wait patiently for Him to bring it to pass?
