Whenever God calls His People into ministry or a place of holiness, He gives them a set of instructions to follow!

For instance, when God called Moses he gave him a set of instructions to follow.

You see, Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground, (Exodus 3:1-5 KJV).

I believe that the LORD was saying in that instance for Moses there was a pattern we must follow before we are to come into His presence!

He was saying that we cannot come in any old kind of a way like many of God’s people, who have no respect or reverence for the things or the people of God!

Even when God called Joshua, Joshua heard the same thing from the commander and chief; Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so, (Joshua 5:15).

And, after he heard that, he immediately fell on his face to the earth and worshipped.

Moses had done the same at the burning bush. Both times, God said the ground they were standing on had become holy from His direct presence, and so they were to take off their sandals.

I believe this was a pattern, and a sign of reverence and respect. Because taking off your sandals is like our old custom of a man taking off his hat when entering a building, or greeting a lady. Some cultures even see it as a token of respect.

You see, the ground was Holy because of God’s presence. And, people were to approach God with solemnity and humility.

The LORD said to me that so many have broken the pattern that He has set for the church, the body of Christ, and have begun to show disrespect for His House and the things of God and have failed to reverence Him! Even to sanctify Him in the eyes of the people.

You see, taking off their sandals expressed an inward reverence through an outward behavior in their worship. Showing such respect avoids anything casual, sloppy or rude in the presence of our God!

And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.

And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses.

And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. Moreover he said, I AM the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God, (Exodus 3:3-6 KJV).

Help us Holy Ghost! So many have lost the fear and the reverence of God and have no guilt or shame about how they act and the things that they do in the presence of the almighty God.

Just what is the pattern God has given to the church in order to receive an open heaven as he did all those that he had called and chosen to receive the pattern before the forefathers.

“And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.

If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; THEN WILL I HEAR FROM HEAVEN, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, (a pattern) and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments; THEN WILL I ESTABLISH THE THRONE OF THY KINGDOM, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, (Moses, Joshua, the Apostles, Prophets etc.) saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and unto this house?

And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, (the pattern) which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them, (2 Chronicles 7:12-22 KJV)

Even under the New Testament law God has said,

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thorughly furnished unto all good works,” 2 Timothy 3:15-17 KJV.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever, (Hebrews 13:8). The pattern has not changed; only those who choose to walk away from it!!

“And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord , which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the Lord , and devoured them, and they died before the Lord . Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace,” Leviticus 10:1-3 KJV.
