Getting Older?
As I approach another landmark, The LORD reminds me that age is no barrier in His Kingdom.
I heard The LORD speaking to me today, “Most people regard getting old, retirement, a time of life to be dreaded, maybe even avoided.
Let your generation know that there is no retirement in My Kingdom — only promotion!”
He went on to remind me of what has happened in my life since retirement in the worlds eyes.
Take a look around almost any Church. Look at all the ministries and outreaches, then look at the good folk running them.
Most are the older generation. Why? Because they have time, and they have experience of the world coupled with some wisdom and compassion.
Who are the accepted prophetic, healing, and deliverance ministry people?
Who has the mentoring, ‘Mum or Dad’ roles?
Who is running the ministry among the ‘last, the least, and the lost’ — less fortunate people with addictions, often including jail sentences?
Who is running a charity shop or drop-in café?
Who are the prayer warriors, relentlessly hammering at the doors of heaven for you?
I simply offer this to you as a token of what God can do at almost any stage of your life.
Its not about being too old, or even too young.
Jeremiah was a young lad when God called him into the prophets role. Joshua was over 80 when he started in leadership….
If God can use us after ‘retirement’, then He can use anybody — including you.
You just have to be willing.
~ Chris G. Bennett
Chris Bennett came to salvation in 1962 but didn’t begin ministry until 2007 — a late-comer! Now mandated by The LORD to prophesy and open old wells of revival in the U.K., but especially in Wales. He has also operated Healing Rooms, and worked with deliverance teams, all with his wife, Linda. Happily now doing whatever The LORD asks of them! Founder, with wife Linda, of their ministry The Upper Room Encounter.
AMEN.
Thankyou Chris for this uplifting word of wisdom. God bless you abundantly

Sitting here not just feeling too old, but that I am out of time—and looking back on so many wasted years that I cannot get back. Thank you for this word. I am old enough to understand the great ministry that is in all the assignments you mentioned above, and today there are too few people filling them. A young person does not bring the same understanding that the older person has. Our experience matters. I needed to hear that right now.
Such a word of wisdom for us, the older generation, dear Chris..We need to hear it…
Dear Chris thank you for your faithfulness in giving us these words from the Lord.
So true. Our little church is full of retired people. When I went through a difficult cancer journey they were all amazing, either praying for me daily or bringing us food as I have no family here in NZ. My son and sister live in UK , daughter in Australia.
Thank you for relaying this Chris. (And I’ll just blame temporary sleep deprivation for my weariness as I read it!) :-)
