Get the Principal Thing….
Get the Principal Thing,
but Seek First His Kingdom and His Righteousness!
We are told to get the principal thing. which is wisdom.
This is something that one would seek rather than going after fine gold or silver. Without wisdom in this world, one would fall prey and become a victim, to many scams, dangers, and evils.
And yet we should know that what we seek is not the world’s wisdom, but the wisdom that comes down from above. This wisdom comes down from above without any variance or degree of shadow.
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding,” Proverbs 4:7.
But when one seeks wisdom, the wisdom of God, we should know that we are actually seeking God Himself. For wisdom is one of God’s attributes, and yet, it is not ALL of Him.
For wisdom is not just a thing to be had. Wisdom is not just to be grasped and held as if it is everything. To be sure, it will protect us and give us long life.
It would aid us against the folly of making bad decisions. Wisdom would help us in our dealings in business affairs, and in all of our relationships. And the “beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD.
We are told to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. We don’t merely seek wisdom; we seek the source of wisdom.
“But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you,” Matthew 6:33.
It is true that if anyone lacks wisdom, then they are to ask of God, and He will answer our prayer. As we know, this was Solomon deepest request, and it was granted to him, although in his later years, he fell from the path of wisdom.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him,” James 1:5.
Wisdom was there as a workman by the LORD’s side at the beginning, as the LORD Himself rejoiced as she was ever at His side rejoicing in the works of man.
“The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: when he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: when he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men,” Proverbs 8:22-31.
Seek the source of wisdom, and you will have found everything that you need. Why would one just seek a portion of all that is available to us in Him?
To love a person unconditionally, then we accept everything about them. We don’t just seek a portion of God; we seek His fullness.

Stephen Hanson of In His Truth Ministries came to the LORD is a special way in 1975 and has prophesied regularly since. In these end-time birthing pangs we are reminded that judgment must first begin with the household of God. Will we be prepared and ready?
