Message
The holidays are here, and ready or not, The LORD is moving behind the scenes.
I recently released a Prophetic Word for December that The LORD is raising up people to pray night and day.
Let’s do a crash course on how to pray with power and gain more authority in your life.
Prayer is an expression of intimacy
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” Ephesians 1:17 NIV emphasis added.
When we connect with The LORD in prayer, it is not just about getting something in return. God wants you to commune with Him and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you.
I will share examples you can use, but it needs to flow from your heart and spirit.
Removing things in common with the enemy
“… for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” John 14:30 NKJV.
Gaining authority in prayer involves growing deeper in our relationship with God, as well as overcoming things from our sinful nature and what we might have in common with Satan.
This includes:
- Wounds and unhealed hurts in our soul, such as anger, rejection, pride, etc.
- Generational sins and curses
- Judging others
You will need to replace these things with godly character.
The goal of growing spiritually is to deal with soul issues so that we can battle against the enemy in the world and not just in ourselves.
“In your anger do not sin” Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.” Ephesians 4:26–27 NIV
If we have repeated sin, it can eventually hinder our authority in prayer. The good news is, you can be forgiven of your sins as many times as you ask according to Matthew 18:22.
I want to encourage you that God is not against you — He is for you! If you are struggling with addictions, discouragement or maybe you feel isolated or hopeless, The LORD is here for you.
A.S.K. Strategy
One of the best things you can do is take time to clear the air and ask God to reboot your ability to hear His voice. Ask Him to speak to you then apply this to your prayers.
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11:9–10 NIV.
Jesus says to Ask, Seek and Knock. This makes the acronym A.S.K. and gives you insight into how to get the door open.
Jesus does not say to sit on the couch or stay in the prayer room waiting for God to open the door. Instead, he instructs us to take these proactive steps — ask, seek, knock!
Do you have a prayer testimony?
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22 NIV.
When I was 6 years old, my family lost all of our food and my mom had us pray. A woman then came to the door, holding bags of groceries.
This woman’s name was Mrs. Giddy, and she prophesied over me that I would be a great preacher for God. She prayed for me until I answered the call to preach at age 32.
What is your prayer story? If you don’t have one or if yours is old, ask The LORD for more!
The LORD is releasing a new authority for you to hear His voice and pray. I tell you — your life is about to take a huge turn for the good.
Blessings,
