Directly From the Source!
This is a combination response and posting of my own.
Celeste Dewey had a great HKP article, titled “In Process”, about nursing babies, naturally and Spiritually. A great article. Here is my response and posting.
Just yesterday my son and his two daughters were over for a visit. The youngest, is not quite 8 months old. Her mom, who works, uses a breast pump to supply us with her milk to be used when watching the baby.
When warmed in a bottle, the baby will drink it. However, our son told us, in a casual way, that his wife, recently, tried to feed the baby this way, (her milk in a bottle, to use up some that was left over) instead of nursing her.
He said the baby threw a fit, wanting it directly from the source! I made the comment, “live milk is best….”
As Celeste Dewey stated, we must get into The Word Personally. Feeding on True Milk presented from another’s “bottle”, in a cold or warm state, is good, okay, as a supplement.
Here is an interesting quote from Davis Guzig’s Commentary on the Song of Solomon:
“We have a little sister, and she has no breasts: The idea is that Song of Solomon 8:8 is a look back at a planning session held by the maiden’s brothers when she was still a fairly young girl. They recognized that they had a responsibility towards her; to plan ahead for the day she would be spoken for — the day of her marriage.
- Upon this verse, the Puritan John Trapp made a curious comment by allegory: “A society of men without the preaching of the Word is like a mother of children without breasts.”
- Matthew Poole had another allegorical idea: “This signifies the present doleful state of the Gentiles, which as yet were not grown up into a church estate, and wanted the milk or food of life, as for itself, so also for its members.” “
To be fed Directly from His Bosom, (cf. John 1:1,18), is from the ultimate course!
The WORD isn’t some-thing, but SOMEONE! (John 1:1).
The Word increases our Faith as long as it is a Faith that is energized through Agape, (Galatians 5:6) Relationship, Relationship, Relationship!
One last thought. His Bride will not be satisfied with Milk for long, cf. Revelation 19:7-8.
As we come into closer Relationship with Him, Her appetite, and desire will be to graduate to “Big People Food”.
“For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil,” Hebrews 5:12-14 emphasis added.
“Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment,” Hebrews 6:1-2 emphasis added.
Paul cried out to KNOW HIM! (Philippians 3:10). This was not in the beginning of his relationship with Jesus, but after many years of ministry and in his waning days on Earth. He wanted more!
Paul also expressed in Ephesians 4:12-16 the importance of Knowing Him.
“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge (This word is epignosis G1922 = Full, Accurate Knowledge + Ephesians 1:17) of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. 14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.”
Ephesians 4:1-16, to me, capsulizes YHVH’s Plan for His Ekklasea.
We all need to be praying more for His Plan to become REALITY. Our Hope and Citizenship is NOT here.
Do not be tossed about with doctrines of His Kingdom being established BEFORE HIS SECOND COMING! That is like saying God is finished with the Jewish Nation!
Things will be getting worse. I had asked The LORD about this earlier. I asked Him about the Corona Virus’ future.
He told me that this virus would eventually go away, BUT, more disease and hardship was coming our way, and to a greater degree.
Our way of life is changing before our eyes, BUT HIS WAY OF LIFE, that transcends the terrestial and flies into the Eternal, IS HERE for the asking and seeking.
Time to pull out our own, personal shovels and start digging our own trenches in our hearts for God to fill with His Holy Spirit!
There are NO “Yeh Buts” in His Body. The “Yeh Buts” are sitters not doers! His Gluteus Maximus is one of the largest and strongest muscles in His Body and is responsible for Motion of The Hip and Thigh.
That is to say, Walking, Running, and Digging, not sitting!
Jesus, in John 17:3, also prayed to The Father: “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
Here is The Vision, plain and clear, through our More Sure Word of Prophecy:
“Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in (“that is within, internal,”) Christ Jesus,” Philippians 3:13-14.
