Foolish Competition and Ambitions
‘Competition’, according to Webster’s Dictionary, is the activity or condition of competing.
‘Ambition‘, is a strong desire to do or to achieve (success) wealth, fame, typically requiring determination and hard work.
What does God think of our desire to achieve ambitions?
To have biblical ambitions are not about worldly competitions or ambitions that causes one to hurt, harm or bring shame upon another, but it is to esteem and to honor others above thyself.
Ambitions — philotim in the Greek — means to esteem and or to honor.
The LORD revealed to me it is hard for those who are in The Kingdom of God to honor and to esteem those in The Body of Christ when their is continued competition and the dishonoring of one another.
In fact, this, He said, is the world’s way of doing things! They brag, boast and gloat about their accomplishment — instead of giving God the glory and the praise for blessings them with the grace to accomplish what they have acquired in this world.
But, this should not be among the children of God.
One day James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
And He said unto them, ‘What would ye that I should do for you?’
They said unto him, ‘Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.’
(So then after The LORD had spoken unto them, Jesus was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.) (Mark 16:19)
But Jesus said unto them, ‘Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?’
And they said unto him, ‘We can.’ And Jesus said unto them, ‘Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: but to sit on My right hand and on My left hand is not Mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.’
Notice, the sons of Zebedee wanted a seat that ONLY Christ himself had been called to sit in. (Sounds like Lucifer — a spirit of deception)
And, like many of those who have not matured in Christ we sometimes ask and desire for things that God has not chosen or has a desire for us to have like the Sons of Zebedee.
But Jesus let them know what they could and could not do in order to help them to better understand what they were desiring was not in His hands to give or to grant unto them. Not knowing that their selfish ambitions would actually cause them to be in competition with Him and the mandate He was called to fulfill.
And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, ‘Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: and whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all,” (Mark 10:35-44 KJV)
The LORD let them know that Greatness does not come in sitting in the high seat but the seat of the servants.
The Sons of Zebedee were very immature in God’s word like many of us who start out with zeal with no knowledge of who God is and what His Kingdom is all about!
And, we see the most important seat as a seat of fame, glitz and glitter but Jesus asked them a question can you drink the cup He would drink of or be baptized with the baptism that He would be baptized with?
Of course they said yes, like a lot of us would have said not understanding Christ went through a lot of rejection, mocking, and violence, but nevertheless Jesus let them know as He tells us all, you will suffer if you want to reign with Him and be baptized with fire if you desire to be cleansed from sin, but the exact same cup He would suffer, was His to bear, and only God could grant it!
I believe The LORD wants The Church to know that it is time to relinquish the worldly pride, arrogance and the selfish ambitions and competition that is in the body of Christ and to realize we all have a Cross to bear and in order to fulfill our destiny we must all stay in the lane God has called us to be in!
And, that the spirit of the authoritarian spirit to rule with a heavy hand and to seek after fame, prestige and status is not of the will of the Father but the will of Satan.
For, Where the world teaches us to go all out to be the best, to have a bigger house, a fancier car, a larger paycheck than our neighbor, the Bible teaches us the opposite: “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself” (Philippians 2:3).
Apostle Paul a man who wanted to please his religion knew how it was to be dedicated to the flesh once posed an insightful question: “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men?”
His answer: “If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10).
Later, Paul repeatedly said: “On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests and tries our hearts,” (1 Thessalonians 2:4).
Philippians 2: 3-4 states, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
And, if it is our ambition to seek and honor Christ, we are assured of His profound promise: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you,” (Matthew 6:33; cf. 1 John 2:25).

As a Missionary, God moved her into the Office of a Prophet, revealing to her the qualities of a True prophet, humility, humiliation, loving others, interceding in prayer, as she keeps her own life clean to accurately hear from God. Since hearing the audible voice of God calling her to ministry, she’s been called to intercede and pray for others in ministry as God speaks, instructs, directs and gives prophetic words for her to give to others. God promised He would bring her to sit and to learn before great men, all of which He did!
Awesome.
