Feeling Weary? Upside Down? Drained?
Many times we push ourselves to the point that we come very close to running on empty.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed by our complex responsibilities, availability, need for “flex-ability” and our multi-tasking busy lives. Whew!…..
Sometimes someone very thoughtful and “outward thinking” comes along when we need it the most, and a simple act of kindness renews our strength and lifts our sad hearts out of the dark spiral of not feeling understood or cared for.
Often, a simple joy brings much needed strength and bolsters our resolve to stay “firm footed” and at peace, even though there may well be a whirlwind of tensions or stressors spinning around us.
I was in an airport a few weeks ago, standing in the security line with a long line of other travelers.
I noticed three younger women helping a group of more senior in age frail adults through their travel details.
They were calm, patient and their kind, genuine assistance lifted my heart. I realized that just witnessing this act of kindness had filled me right back up!
That tenderness of heart those young women showed towards those senior ladies was life giving to watch!
So, the next time you feel like you are close to running on empty, take a deep breath, look around, and pay attention to someone or something that can renew your strength and spirit as well.
Even your smile aimed towards another weary soul can spark a warm and gentle hope for a person needing the simple (yet profound) joy of kindness to be openly expressed.
“So, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12.
