Father, Kill the Flesh in Me!
Today my prayer is:
Father, kill the flesh in me that cries out to be seen, to be recognised, to be celebrated, to be known and to be great in the eyes of men.
Let my heart find true contentment with being known only by the all important one, Jesus my King!
How often I find myself looking, hoping, desiring and seeking after the affections and the accolades of men.
I am guilty of putting the opinions of men above the opinions of God.
Today as I repent, I see the hand of God repositioning and realigning me for personal revival!!
“They loved human praise more than praise from God,” John 12: 43.
Watch! For many have become idolisers of men, instead of true worshipers of the living God.
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of god? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ!” Galatians 1:10.
“Demetrius has a good report of all men,” 3 John 12.
Should this be said of every believer in Christ?
Then why are we given such a stern warning, “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you”? Luke 6:26.
Listen! Take heed! Whatever leads to self-exaltation or to self-dependence will surely prepare the way for destruction.
The Word of God tells us to lean not on human power or to crave human praise, but rather to trust alone in His divine power and to seek to be a servant to all.
If we seek the praises of men, we will reap pitiful rewards in the long run, but if we seek only the praises of God, we will indeed reap greater and weightier rewards that will last for an eternity!
Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your father who is in heaven,” Matthew 5:16.
However, if we seek men’s praise for our own sake it is sinful. Such a person wants glory for himself more than he wants to glorify God.
Lastly, the craving for the praise of men is like an infectious disease. It will lead us in the opposite direction to that which empowers faith, hope, strength, wisdom and joy!
Blessings to you all.
